                    <blockquote>

"I have asked for higher fights a couple times. I can kind of understand why Shogun Rua feels the way he does being a former champion. And Glover Teixeira is an amazing fighter, but he is not a household name like Shogun. Glover has everything to win in this situation, but Shogun has to look at what the gains are for him.

I am not saying I would choose my fights, but I sympathize with them. We are not in the habit of choosing our fights, the UFC makes the fights. I have never turned down an opponent."

well, maybe you should have turned down some fights Bisping, and asked for the bigger ones.

Rua: Unlike Bisping, I've actually won a title and beaten the elite of the division.

"Unlike Bisping, I've never had my face almost knocked off by Hendo" - Shogun's unoffical response

Rua: Unlike Bisping, I have actually been a champion and defeated a top 10 opponent in my career.

Oh yeah, and won the Pride GP.

Oh yeah, and been ranked the #1 fighter in the world in my division.

Oh yeah, and been a classy fighter and not a douchebag.

lol at Bisping talking shit about Shogun, that is just ridiculous.

Um, I's rather be Bisping, I thought Shogun may be in serious trouble from that colossal whipping he took at Hendo's hands!

Shogun should not have to fight a guy that never beat a top 10 fighter. The offer was joke!

Are you guys retarded?

Bisping wasn't talking shit about Shogun. He's saying he understands where he's coming from.

pretty sure one person took it as bisping talking shit

How do people read this as Bisping bashing Shogun? He says he understands why he did it and has asked for higher fights sometimes himself, but in the end hasn't turned any down. That sounds like, if he was in the same situation as Shogun, he would do the same thing? Does it not?

Man some people are so quick to jump on the hate Bisping angle.

Bisping is in no way bashing Shogun. He's sympathising with him. Phone Post

Lol love how ppl bash Bisping before even reading the quote. In no way was he bashing Shogun, but actually saying he understands where he's coming from. Phone Post

Of course its a dig on Shogun.

Otherwise he wouldnt make such an effort to point out that he himself has never turned down a fight.

Basically he's saying: "Well it may be ok for Shogun to do that, but I would never turn down a fight...look at all the great fighters I have called out, blah blah blah"

He is not sympathizing with Shogun, he is using the fact that Shogun passed on a fight as an opportunity to point out that he himself has "Never turned down a fight".

It's a way to brag about himself, cleverly disguised as talking about Shogun.

Naa, he said it's a low reward and high risk fight IMO CLEARLY.

No need for Shogun to fight a guy that never won a big fight as it does not move up the latter (!), he wants JBJ (who really destroyed him COMPLETELY)the though of him having ANY FEAR of a so far 'never was' is ignorant!

This too. From a guy that never even won a big fight! WTF is he even siting next to them (proven top fighters and former champs)?

Zed Wayne Zed - You peons.

I can actually visualize you writing a boar post when you know you have not read the article....

Read the fucking thing and gain context.

In no way did he insult Shogun,

Um, this came from UFC tonight last night on FUEL. We saw the entire interview, be sure my comments are 100 percent correct.

1) Notice Bisping article

2) Skim text

3) Bash

Bisping has never turned down an opponent, even when the matchup he's been offered has been a lose/lose scenario for him.

The guy took a fight against Jorge Riveria when his star was on the rise because his bosses asked him to help out the injury plagued Australian card. He fought Chael Sonnen on a weeks notice when Sonnen was considered to be one of the best in the division.

In short, he's well within his rights to remind people that he'll fight anyone, anytime. Not only that, but these comments aren't any worse than anything that any other fighter is likely to come out with in any given interview.

I honestly just think a few of you put your training bras on too tight this morning.

Maybe if you saw the show and heard everything that was said instead of "skiming the text" you'd think different and it may have been worth a post.
