Sup everyone, it's been a little while since I've made a thread.
Anyways, I was really impressed with how BJ did against Fitch, and surprised by his gameplan. So my question is this, do y'all think that if BJ fought Edgar using the same type of gameplan, that he could be the champ again? I actually think he could, because anytime he actually went to try and take Edgar down, he did, so I could see it possibly working for him in a 3rd fight. What do you guys think?
BJ Penn is knocking on the door of glory. His only problem is his mental toughness.
If I were his coach I would take him out of Hawaii/away from team and friends and get him a mental coach. A mentally prepared BJ is a unstoppable BJ.
He just has a very hard time after the 2rd round where you really need to dig deep to perform at a high intesity and finish the fight.
He'd probably have a better chance, but who knows. Tha's the figh game. He had 2 chances to outgameplan Edgar and he didn't. Also if he did have a 3rd fight and was going to use that gameplan, who knows maybe Edgar would change something else up and take BJ down before he got the chance and beat him again.
and for the record I was not impressed by BJ. BJ always had good takedowns, how anyone is surprised he was able to take Fitch down confuses me. I expected BJ to light Jon up on he feet and I thought that would have been a much better gameplan, as Jon has insane submission defense and that's widely known. So thr reality is it wasn't a good gameplan by BJ, it was just a different gameplan by BJ, which is what surprised a lot of people.
Nahhh. Edgar is just too quick. Penn simply can't catch him- even coming out ready to shoot.
Buck 65 - He'd probably have a better chance, but who knows. Tha's the figh game. He had 2 chances to outgameplan Edgar and he didn't.
