BJ Penn should go

train with demian maia for his training camp, and do exactly what demian has been doing recently.

i think he would be better off at a gym like att, tristar or jax/wink...someone who can really take his skills and build around them and gameplan from their. he doesnt need more focused BJJ wrestling or Boxing he just needs to put them together properly and be well conditioned enough to to 3 rounds..

Actually a great idea Phone Post 3.0

Now I am a BJ Penn fan and pretty much root for him in every fight he is in...but that being said, what amazing feats of grappling have you seen him perform in the last 10 years that make you think he can do what Maia does? Phone Post 3.0

ricoftn -

Home. BJ should go home

He's favored standup, but he usually submits via taking the back and RNC-the same thing maia has been doing lately

I don't believe he forgot how to grapple as much as he's just wanted to stand and wang lol bj also has been doing the dope mount pass for a long time, something specifically referenced in the bjj scout vid on maia Phone Post 3.0

BJ can takedown, pass to mount, take the back and finish just like maia, he just hasn't been using that game plan in a long time Phone Post 3.0

Good idea OP. Phone Post 3.0

No he can't. Do you know what year it is? BJ has spent most of the last decade not training seriously. It's over. Phone Post 3.0

away from the Octagon.

BJ has all the necessary skills to beat anyone in a reasonable weight division, he just needs the correct conditioning/training and right mind set. Phone Post 3.0

His back take against Diaz was dope and if irc he had a nice takedown in the first round against McDonald. Bj literally does something impressive jiujitsu wise in every fight Phone Post 3.0

Well, I agree in some ways - he has good enough hands to set up or bait the td and he has good tds as well.....

He dominated Fitch on the ground too didn't he? When Fitch was still the #2 WW?

BJ had a super close fight with the WW GOAT, beat the #2 WW twice (nearly thrice) and once when Hughes was the reigning champ with a bullet and then drew the #2 WW.

People think its amazing that Connor beat Nate 3-2 after getting an immediate chance to rematch. Compare that to what BJ did and also consider that the jump from LW to WW is bigger than FW to LW. BJ's tapout of Hughes is one of the most overlooked fights in MMA history esp as one of the biggest upsets ever. Think about it. Randy thrilled us over and over at diff weights too but no one ever went up in weight and beat a dominant champ in quick and decisive fashion like that.
