heres what BJ said on his site:
"Dana has expressed some things to me that he would want to see this year, maybe me in the welterweight division," said Penn on BJPenn.com. "We will see. I have got a tough fight with Frankie Edgar coming up. [And] there is always good lightweight talent. There is a bunch of welterweight contenders up there. I guess I would just have to say, I don't have my mind set on anything yet... I don't want to jump the gun and give away all Dana's plans!"
well i cant wait for him to go back up to welterweight, possible match ups against Koscheck, Fitch and Alves would be awesome and i think BJ would win all those fights i mentioned.

After a couple more at 155, I think this is a great move.
In fact, after a few more at 155, this is the only move left to see BJ have some competitive fights.

Who do you want him to fight @ 55? Maybe Maynard? Otherwise, I don't see any interesting fights.
I only want to see him move up if he does it right and we see the real BJ Penn. He needs to gain some muscle and maintain his cardio. I don't want to see the BJ that fought GSP the second time.
BJ's first fight should be against Thiago Alves
Maynard for sure.
Also a rematch with gomi would be fine as well. (don't flame me to hard) LOL
Maybe by then someone (not sure who) could be ready for a second shot/rematch for the belt.
Just off the top of my head, those three and that would be about it......
BJ: Dana, I wanna fight Georges again
Dana: No
BJ: No, seriously, I can beat him. I got robbed in the first decision, so we're basically one and one
Dana: No way in hell
BJ: Plus, you know he cheated in the second fight. I just want my fair shot, you know?
Dana: Nope
BJ: The fans want to see it! It'll sell HUGE! Rubber match!
Dana: Listen, BJ, seriously: you're awesome. The fans love you. You own your division. But before you even start that to THINK about a rematch with Georges, I'd want to see you beat at least a couple of the top five guys at Welterweight. You want one of those guys, we can maybe talk about it after you win your next fight. Until then, let's not look past this guy Edgar, K?

Wow, it's almost like joe canada was a fly on the wall for that conversation.
Not kidding! Awesome! haha
I don't care who BJ fights. I personally wouldn't mind seeing him fight Vanderlei. I was looking forward to that hype awhile ago. He's just one of those rare guys that despite his success in his division, he's willing to and can compete with probably anyone in the world.
wat
BJ should stay at LW and dominate. LW is the deepest weight class in the world. The UFC needs to bring in some challengers for BJ. JZ would be a nice addition
i'd like to see bj get wrecked by a few more elite welterweights besides hughes and gsp, his excuses alone would be pretty entertaining
BJ would maim Mike Swick

BJ would destroy Hughes today, like the first time, and Hughes knows it.

And about 95% of the second time

LOL....hahahaha...so right on
Two things you can count on reading in any thread about BJ Penn, no matter the topic:
1) GSP greased
2) BJ loses because he doesn't have cardio, not because he isn't the greatest living P4P ever.
2) He almost - nearly just about could have had he not been hurt - beaten Matt Hughes in their second fight.
Lion Of Zion - The top 4 would beat him.
The top 4 in the UFC would though I believe BJ would handle Shields.

Also dont forget GSP went to the hospital while Penn went to the bar. heh
