People don’t understand the magnitude of what occurred in this fight. This is the fight that truly cemented BJ’s legacy. Say what you will about his later career, but at this point, no one then or today was beating him.

Penn would have won the rematch if he hadn’t injured his ribs at the end of the 2nd round.
Penn was just a bad match-up for Hughes, much like Dennis Hallman was as well.
In hindsight, Hughes was about the only guy he could beat at 170.
