Hilo's champ looks forward to his next fight, other challenges

UFC lightweight champion BJ Penn is enjoying life at home after his convincing fourth-round victory Saturday over challenger Kenny Florian in Philadelphia.

It won't be a long vacation though for Penn (14-5-1), the only mixed martial artist to successfully defend the UFC's 155-pound title twice. Penn said he will talk with UFC President Dana White this week about his next defense, against Diego "Nightmare" Sanchez.

"It's gonna happen, hopefully within the next two, two-and-a-half months," Penn said Wednesday.

"I'm 30 now and I'm hoping to get a couple of more fights in. I know they say that in MMA, people peak later, but who knows? My whole career, fighting from age 20 to 30, I've gotten into real good shape and gotten out of shape and started getting back into shape again. I don't want to do that anymore.

"Here I am. I'm in shape. I want to have fun for a couple of days, take some time off, eat some good food, and then I want to get right back into all that stuff."

kool, good to hear

Anderson should take tips, instead of shooting everyone down he should want to defend

oh yeah that's true - BJ is all class

Diego then Maynard (assuming he gets past Huerta....which he will). Both fights should be very good.

TRANSLATION: Training REALLY sucks so I need to lump 2-3 fights together for the time when I ACTUALLY do get into what I consider fighting shape!

and can you shorten the rounds

Penn vs Sanchez @ UFC 106/107 (the New Year's card)?

I'd love to see him in adcc  this Sept.

Personally I feels like guys are getting title shots wayyy 2 early. I like Grey Maynard and think he is a sick wrestler but he would get run in the cage with B.J.

"I'd like to get a fight with St. Pierre again, but now that Diego Sanchez is next, once we get the word from Dana White, that's what we're gonna be thinkin' about," Penn said."

LOL @ fighting St. Pierre again. Get over it Champ.

Never said he was classy, I just want Anderson to fight. I think BJ is a douche, but he is willing to fight.

 He wants to fight AARP

who says silva has turned down fights? He wants big fights. He is in the later stages of his career and only wants to fight big names and doesnt get to excited to fun lesser names

go bj

BJ will roll right through Diego...Diego gets caught up in exchanges and stand up too much... thats where BJ will punish him

 1. I dont think Silva has turned down any fights, He has  said he feels some people dont deserve title shots, But so far he fights anybody they put in fron of him

2 BJ is gonna have more trouble with Sanchez than he did with Kenflo(had no trouble with Keny)

3. Maynard Has no shot to beat BJ. I dont know why everybody thinks it will be a competetive fight. Maynard will get dominated. (just my opinion, but most likely  *fact)

But unlike BJ, Anderson damn near cleared out the divison and didnt put the belt on the shelf for a year to fight a weight class up.

I don't think b.j. would want to be on the manchester card but it sure could use him

I'd like to see him fight the countless tough wrestlers at 155. Griffin, Edgar, Maynard...etc.
