BJJ and safety

A friend and myself are working on getting a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu club chartered at our college, but the college is concerned about safety and liability issues. Does anyone know of anything written, or maybe even some statistics, on the safety of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu relative to other sports and martial arts? Although there is clearly a risk of injury in any physical activity, it seems clear to me that training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is pretty safe relative to most contact sports (football, boxing, etc). However, I've got to prove this to people that have never even heard of Brazilian Jiujitsu
