BJJ etiquette?

Hey guys, I have a question about some BJJ etiquette.

Here's the story. About two and a half years ago, I trained at a Gracie school and was there for about a year. I quit going when I got laid off, and when I got a new one, I went to a different school in the area because it was much more affordable. I fought ammy with them a couple of times and I've been there for about a year.

Now I have another new job that pays about three times what I was making before, and I want to back to the Gracie school. I'm having shoulder surgery and will be out for about four months so I could just go back to the Gracie gym when I'm ready to train again. The gym I'm at now is cool but the people that train there are pretty inexperienced for the most part. I haven't been tapped in like three months except by the instructor.

Is it considered bad to go back to Gracie's after I'd been at the other place? I want to go back cause I can afford it now and I'm not really being challenged at my current school. I just don't want to do something that would be considered douchbaggey.

just as long as you didn't leave that gracie school on bad terms. i don't see why not.

Depends on the Gracie school, some Gracies(and/or their students) will definitely NOT be OK with this, whilst others will be fine.

Just dont tell them you trained somewhere else or they probably wont like it. what gracie dont know wont hurt em. Phone Post

I've never been in a "Gracie school" so I can't say this or that about them but what estan posted is what I've heard before. But I'd say that kind of behavior isn't exclusive to Gracie schools either.

Be straight up with both instructors. Would you want to take part in a school that would have denied you if they knew the truth?

Explain your situation and then go from there.

You live in The US, not Brazil. Do whatever you want.
