Hey gym owners, head coaches. Do you allow instructors from local competing gyms to attend your classes? I’m fine with students, but I’m kinda not sure on this one.
I'm not a gym owner, but I really think you shouldn't.
wtf bro, why disrespect BJJ gym owners by asking them if they swallow?
It sounds like the only thing your gym is missing is self confidence.
No and my students can’t go and instruct anywhere else either
If they pay, they are customers.
some are welcome at open mat.
to take my classes you have to be a paying member (and not a local instructor lol)

I think this is the right policy.
Welcome them to open mats and seminars to build a local jiujitsu community. But, unless they are in your association, they shouldn’t be able to buy a way to compete with you.
put the third hook in them
If they pay I would let them, but only if they weren't as good as me. If it's even competitive or they were better than me I would be thinking they were trying to poach students.
If anything I would get in writing that they aren't allowed to even hint at taking students.
Why not... Have some confidence in your gym.

Why only some?
Who cares? Unless they are poaching students, take it as a compliment.. if they are poaching students.. fix whatever is wrong with your program

I help run a gym and we’re all brown belts. We have a high level blackbelt from another academy about 30 minutes away that stops in and takes our classes sometimes if he works late and can’t make it to his school. We take it as a compliment. He’s definitely better in the gi than us, but all our instructors have multiple MMA fights and our gym has striking as well. In 2 or 3 years he stops in, we’ve never lost a student to his academy.
I don’t really view anyone out there as a competitor- I have members who coach elsewhere, yes. Im honored that people who teach others want to learn from us.
All I require of people at the academy are 1. Pay your membership dues 2. Be a good training partner
Nothing else matters. There are no secret moves anymore.
Who cares? I jump around from gym to gym helping instruct, whichever gym fits my schedule at the time. Each gym knows I just like to help and like to train with different people. Never ran into someone telling me i couldn't go somewhere else to train, I would laugh. I guess it would depend on the person, maybe everyone understands why I train like I do; no elegance to a specific gym, just like helping and training
There is no trade secret to martial arts unless you are some lunatic tma type guy thinking you know the secret death touch.

Wat?
