BJJ gym/school in Vancouver, Canada?

I am moving up to Vancouver and want a chill cheap? spot to train and roll in Vancouver. Relaxed environment where I dont have huge up front fees and pay $200 a month.

Anyone know of a spot to roll?

Everyone tells me Marco's place is good but its too pricey and I don't want a super structured place where I have to bring a card to class every day showing I have done arm bars.

GB looks awesome but from the website its too structured for me with the all the rules. Nothing wrong with it just not my thing to bow and such.

anyone train with John Kefallonitis at Stuido55?

what about west coast MMA for BJJ classes?

Thanks bro

Marcus is actually the most relaxed place to train. I've been there for 8 years. Depending on how much you want to train, it isn't bad for price for 200 you can train twice a day everyday a month for 120 it's 2 times a week plus drop ins on Sunday's. Plus he literally just got his 8th degree red and black belt. You'd be a fool not to train with such a high ranking instructor. Most easy going class out there. Maybe it's just my biased opinion but I've heard that the other clubs out here are kind of lame when it comes to signing contracts and paying upfront. Ain't none of that shit at ms. Cash no contracts. Phone Post

I respect Marcos abilities.

Jumping jacks warm ups and do I have to bring a card to class? I really just like to roll a lot.

Which location? I will be in new west without a car.

From Marcus Soares website...

"Marcus’ warm-ups are known to be very difficult."

This is what I don't want. I understand the need for this but I am not a fan of big warm ups.

lol
I am not saying I dont want to work hard, just rather do it while rolling. Not a fan of 30 minute warm up circles and such.

Marcus is the highest ranking BJJ instructor in Canada as mentioned he was just promoted to 8th degree BJJ Black Belt. This makes him one of the highest ranking BJJ instructors in the world. On his web site you can see the some of the biggest names in BJJ and MMA that he's instructed.
Hard warm up, world class instruction, yes then you will roll hard and one of his clubs is in New Westminster.

You can go try a class for free and please go try out other clubs and see what fits you!

I briefly trained with a Brown Belt under Marcus and the warmups were solid.

If I lived in Vancouver and had an opportunity to train at Marcus' I'd be all over it

Do you know the name of the New West club?

Columbia martial arts in new westminister and you don't need a card. Best in Canada in terms of quality instruction. All you need to know is 8th degree red and black belt, that should be the end of discussion. Phone Post

Yup were pretty much gi only club aside from the odd Saturday class Phone Post

Universal MMA for sure.

Best place in the city. Shane Rice is their head instructor and he is a Rickson Black Belt.

Great environment and their prices are definitely the best. Usually 100-130 bucks a month for unlimited BJJ and Muay Thai.

They compete in all sorts of amateur events across town and they ate very well respected.
