Im not going to say the name of the instructor, because I know he is good. Its my financials. Nothing to do with the price. Just too much for me.

This is a big matter, but also you HAVE to make sure you "vibe" well with the team. I know it seems fighters go into signup at these gyms based on the history, the trainers, etc. BUT nothing could be more important than having good training partners. I've been a member at a few legit top level BJJ schools, but my training partners acted like it was a competition every practice! I understand you want to go hard, but when you have these guys that are so thick headed and NOT fun to train with, the gym is worth nothing.

Yeah MOST if not all gyms will let you do a class or two to get the "vibe" or pace. I would never pay dues without doing a class first.

HB Ultimate in Huntington Beach charges $280.00 if you want to do everything. They were the most expensive gym I visited in Orange County while there. They had this system where kickboxing was $100, JiuJitsu was like $100, then Muay Thai was like $100 .....and you could only choose one!! Unless you choose the "Unlimited" for all martial arts, which was $280.00/month with a 1 year contract!!!
135 In Dallas from a black belt is a good price. Depends on the number of class options you get per week, if there is an open gym, and 135 without a contract would be the shit.
