2-1 on TUF and then 2-3 in the UFC before later going 0-2 in his last two MMA fights on regional cards…Johnny Bedford is the current BW BKFC champ.
Luis Palomino is the LW BKFC champ and he went 3-7 in his last 10 MMA fights that took place in WSOF/ACA/ONE. He now has 4 title defenses in BKFC.
Thiago Alves is the BK MW champ…turned pro in MMA 21 years ago, spent 14 years in the UFC and finished up 4-6 in his last 10 and 1-4 in his last 5 MMA fights before heading over to BKFC.
Their sole women’s champ, Christine Ferea had a 1-2 MMA career in Invicta before the transition to BKB.
There’s not a lot of non MMA fighters on the BKFC roster with the experience or pedigree to be champions in this format. Gustavo Trujillo is the best fighter in BKFC and he’s not a champion because Lorenzo Hunt won’t fight him again. Trujillo is one of the most devastating guys in combat sports right now.
Not true, I know plenty of fighters that just don’t do it for the money, most of the guys are drawn to it for the attention and thrill.
Do you have any idea how much a pro MMA fighter makes in the beginning of their career? How about a low level UFC guy? The point is, if they were doing it for just money and not for the glory chances are they would make more on average as a day laborer.
They say “every great fighter has one great fight left in them”…
For $5 a month, several events a month, and an exciting rule set I’ll be more than happy to tune in. Not that I woke up this morning looking at the world through rose-colored lenses what I was thinking to myself how awesome it is to be an MMA fan right now. We had the pfl on a Thursday, we have UFC prelims and then Live card tonight, as well as BKFC. One FC has been tearing it up putting great mixed cards on and last night as I was falling asleep I bumped into a Latin organization called Combate’ something. What a great time to be an MMA fan and have access to so much of the sport. I’m going to cook myself up another Blue Ribbon batch of nachos and I’m going to start the UFC prelims at 4 today. A long way from 20 years ago when everybody on this form add to be tuned into a Stryker 18 play by play, or Swap VHS cassettes a month after an event happened.
OP sounds like he’s getting old, turn down the music, it’s too loud.
Anymore, all MMA is boring ass standup. 3 - 5 minute rounds with a takedown here or there.
BKFC is 5 - 2 minute rounds of chaos. Just like any promotion, you are gonna have your boring fights.
To me, I don’t care who fights in BKFC, it’s exciting. UFC has become stale unless it’s a PPV. The ESPN cards with no crowds are zzz. Not the same with no crowd
Shit I feel like there was more honor in MMA back in the early days. Then it was more for pride & representing one’s art & skills. Now it’s just for money & fame.
BKFC is pretty much a promotion for over the hill lower level fighters, much as Bellator is (or used to be) a promotion for over the hill elite fighters. It’s better publicity and probably money for these guys than just fighting on some local show, so I don’t have a problem with it.
You’ll be dealing with too many broken hands.
When Crazy Horse and I fought in Jamie Levine’s show he gave us the option of fighting bare hand it if we wanted to (all fighters) and all Fighters chose to use gloves.
The majority of the time we spent together we were trying to punch each other in the face. He wants his name changed to felony and he’s beaten up pregnant women, you tell me?
