HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – On Thursday evening, a federal jury delivered a guilty verdict on both counts in the case for Huntsville Police Officer Brett Russell after three days of testimony. Russell is convicted of using excessive force during the arrest of Gary Wayne Hopkins in December 2011 and obstructing justice.

He just had alot of built up aggression. His great grand pappy was a slave.
No riots may be because he was convicted.

That is absolutely the only reason. if it had gone the other way, suburbanites would be destroying their own neighborhoods, smashing windows of Joanne Fabrics and tipping over bird baths in every yard.

Sofa King Cool - He only got convicted because he was black, imo. There's a pretty damning video of him dragging the guy out of the back of the police cruiser while he's hand cuffed and beating him.

is that an acknowledgement that this situation, due to the prosecution and conviction of the cop is not like the incidents that precipitated rioting?
doesn't seem like it. seems more like deflection.
this thread is an attempt to equivocate between two very different situations. its one giant fallacy.
not to mention that white people don't have a long history of abuse at the hands of authority figures who then go unpunished.
shitty equivocation is shitty equivocation
If the verdict would have went the other day I would have burned down the first Starbucks I could find.
Oh god not the frat boy in a polo and crocs reverse racism logic...

I think a few things are pretty obvious:
Regardless of his conviction or not, there would have been no white riots, or even much real outrage.
This is a poor attempt to equate this situation to the others in the media, and in fact would actually add to the current agenda. White cop set free, black cop arrested. Black victim dead, white victim just beaten.
However, Ari2, as much as it pains you to acknowledge, you might want to check the following statement for accuracy:
"not to mention that white people don't have a long history of abuse at the hands of authority figures who then go unpunished"
"Regardless of his conviction or not, there would have been no white riots, or even much real outrage.
"
probably not. because despite you thinking otherwise, white people in the US (and yes, I'm amending the earlier statement to be more specific, although I thought it was obvious) do not have a long history of abuse at the hands of authority figures who are then not held accountable.
