I have recently heard the term "blanket ride" thrown around a lot of in both Folkstyle and Catch as Catch Can circles, but don't know what it is. Could someone here please explain or post a pic?
Furthermore, if the use of the term differs in the two aforementioned arts, please make a note of the nature and degree of the difference.
Thanks in advance.
Pillow lock, blanket ride....somebody turn out the light I'm going to take a nap.
real quick: Imagine laying a blanket over someone that is in referee's position. Now substitute the blanket with a wrestler. The top man has a blanket ride.
LOL @ Scuffler! It's hard to keep up with the various terminologies these days ;).
Yeah ....these terms are ridiculious! Here's one the quasimodo???????? It's just a toe hold!!
...although you do have to call them something so you can communicate with others, especially on a forum like this
Good point! That hold does work ,but not if takes two days to do.Just hook the ankels and twist your upper body fast as hell.If it's done right then the guy will gladly let you out of his guard.I would advise using caution though .You can really hurt A training partner or friend. It's one of those moves like the rips .If you're not cool with the other guy ,then you will never be after that.
I had heard the term blanket in wrestling once before. A wrestling coach I knew a good many years ago did a drill for getting out from bottom, he had the top man drape over the bottom man in a crossbody and be dead weight.
Anyway, I guess I'm falling behind the times.
Shaolin,
I'm looking for just such a website.
Having wrestled competitively since I was 8 years old, I thought that I knew most everything that was worth knowing about Folkstyle Wrestling. Over the course of the last 2 years, I've realized just how little I knew about Folkstyle and Freestyle Wrestling, let alone Catch or other styles of grappling.
I'm all for the formation of forums and other mediums that would help to facilitate the exchange of grappling knowledge amongst those who want it.
If anyone has anything worthwhile to contribute please do it here. And if you know of anywhere else where the same is happening, please inform us about it.
