FROM RUSSIA: BODOGFIGHT UP AND RUNNING

By Loretta Hunt

Just three days following its Vancouver, Canada "USA vs. Russia" pay-per-view event, bodogFIGHT crews are already in Russia preparing for the second season of the fledgling promotion's reality TV series. "BodogFIGHT: St. Petersburg" has begun shooting in the frozen tundra of motherland Russia, and like the series' first season, will whittle 16 American fighters down to eight, this time to face a world-represented squad. The World Team will also begin with 16, halving to eight after a series of elimination fights featured on the show. The final eight from each bracket will clash on March 3 with BodogFIGHT's second live pay-per-view event.

As first reported by sherdog.com, Fedor Emelianenko has been scheduled as the headliner of March 3's pay-per-view, according to bodogFIGHT. BodogFIGHT representative Greg Allen confirmed from Russia today that American Jeff Monson has verbally agreed to take the fight against the PRIDE Heavyweight Champion making his first appearance outside the Japanese promotion in some three years, although a contract has not been signed. Allen said Monson is the promotion's first choice at this time.

Middleweight Phil Baroni has also accompanied American Kickboxing Academy mate Cain Velasquez to Russia. Baroni is not a contestant on the series, but didn't rule out a potential appearance on the March 3 pay-per-view card.

"BodogFIGHT: St. Petersburg's" eight-episode series will be distributed via the promotion's Web site www.bodogfight.com, as well as air on the Men's Outdoor and Recreation Network, DISH, Comcast, Cox, and Time Warner Cable.

ttt

a fighter from Palestine? Bulgaria? Nobody's interested?

ttt for the Canucks and good luck

Noble vs Ellenberger should be good.

"Palestine? Bulgaria? Nobody's interested?"

Are they actively living and training there? Whenever I see stuff like that, it turns out they live and train in the US, Canada, etc for many years.

loretta what's are your thoughts on the silva and pele fight?

Bulgaria has a HUGE fight circuit. No surprise that some of them are coming out now.

nice.....

Arias

Why was USA vs Russia in Canada not USA or Russia?
And now they have USA vs the World in Russia? Wouldn't have made more sense to have USA vs Russia in Russia and USA vs the World in Canada?

I thought Pele was in trouble until the final seconds when he landed the punch he needed. Silva def. got cuaght, but rolled to his back.

I couldn't tell from Silva's body language if he was stunned or even out and Pele was on top of him with his back to me so i didn't have the best angle to begin with.

It's one of those calls where you'd have to be the ref looking down into Silva's eyes. I, unfortunately, was not that close.

I called it "marginally controversial" at best. They can do a rematch if they want.

I think both Pele and Silva have a good future.

Go Jake!!!!!

"Are they actively living and training there? Whenever I see stuff like that, it turns out they live and train in the US, Canada, etc for many years."

That's a good point, but I beleive these guys are coming from the countries listed.

maybe their third season? I'm told its shooting in Antigua.

loretta - mail your way

ttt to Mike Brown

yeah. when I talked to him sat night, he wasn't scheduled for the series, but with his fight not showing on the ppv, a changed might have been made. He'd have to be in Russia right now for the second season. Maybe he gets a trip to Antigua in a couple of months. Not bad.
