so I have been having this pain in my left foot since Monday, one of the trainers looked it and said I broke one of the little metacarpal bones or something like that, no big deal supposedly going to heal itself as long as I wrap it and keep ice on it.
But the pain seems to be moving AROUND my foot, it was on the top now its going up towards my instep and I can feel all these little KNOTS in the same area and now around my ankle....
it feels like something is going to snap when I try to push off of that foot.....
So any quick healing ideas? I feel like a pussy because I didn't train this morning, but when I woke up I could still barely walk on it, I trained Wednesday with a wrap on it and that seemed to help but after training it hurt 10x worse!
any advice is appreciated, I know this is no "real" injury, trust me I broke 5 bones in 3 years during middle school so no its NOT that a big a deal, but its more annoying than anything.
ok well if anyone has had a similar experience or something! would be appreciated, but for now i guess im just gonna keep icing it and hope it gets better....
Sounds like you have a stress fracture. Happened to me years back. I could walk on it OK on a hard surface but when I wore tennis shoes outside or bare foot to train, the bone would move back and forth and would hurt like hell. If it was broken all the way I doubt that you would be walking on it.
Doc gave me a wooden shoe to wear. Taught anyway, but had to refrain from kicking with that foot for awhile. Take two aspirins and a 6 pack beer and you should be all healed up in 7 weeks.
I have no cartilidge between two bones in my right foot so I no longer compete or train. I am in pain most of the day everyday. Even walking can be painful. I have to wear special inserts in my shoes to relieve so me of the pressure fromt he foot.
Go to a doctor and at least get an x-ray. I had to get x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans. Turns out I have multiple bone chips floating around in my foot as well. The doctors tell me if they go in to get hte bone chips they will also fuse the two bones together and cannot say how that will affect my mobility so I chose the pain over the unknown.
My initial injury occured when I was 16, I'm 35 now. Go to a doctor and find out what's wrong so you can get it taken care of correctly.
TT, unless your trainer has X-Ray Vision, WTF? go to the doctor and get it properly diagnosed. all the props to the tough guys that they deserve. I know from experience that it is essential to properly diagnose and rest (read; TREAT) an injury. that is, if you care about the voices in your head that will never stop when you get to be old and wise saying "you were just so young, dumb and full of ..."... well, you get the idea.
Well, your trainer may be an idiot. "Carpal" bones are in your hand. If your talking about your foot, it's probably the metatarsal or cuniforms. Actually there are a bunch of bones in the middle of your foot, and I've smashed up most of them. It hurts, and takes awhile to heal. And it will get re-injured easily. Go get an X-ray, and chances are you just need to take it easy for a few weeks.
thanks alot guys, sorry if I seemed ignorant to the problem, he could have said metatarpal or whatever, it is starting to get better I haven't trained in a week because of it and it sucks but I could tell there was something wrong just from walking on it, I am goin to the doc to get x rays because there is something else going on than just a sore foot....
thanks again everyone, your posts really appreciated.
