I'm shocked!
I will join the 3/25 that gave it to Bobby. Definitely did more damage standing and on the ground.
Bobby took lots of hard shots as well.
Bonnar for sure
I can't believe anyone thinks Bonnar won. I guess i could see where it might have been called a draw. But for them to say Bonnar actually won that fight is ridiculous.
P.S. Tbidness you going to XFO?
I dont think Bonnar was hurt.He just has long hair so it makes his head snapping back from punches more obvious(sounds weird, I know, but watch a guy with long hait spar sometime).
Right after he took that combo Bonnar came back with a cheesey spinning back kick into punch combo.
If he was stunned he could have simply backed up, because Bobby wasn't stalking him, he backed up right after landed on Bonnar.
I respect those who felt Bobby won and I see why they think that(I felt it was even and we needed another round) but I think we should all agree that rewarding agression sets a good precedent for future matches.
KNabs, Wouldn't miss it for the world...
TBidness
I think this was almost as hard to call as the Tito/Vitor fight, but I think the judges got it right. Bonnar was more aggressive and showed more skills with the takedowns and wheeling back kicks, he took the wind out of Bobby with that 2nd one. Although Bobby got him with a couple of shots and one really good one, he never really had Bonnar in trouble, and Bonnar should've almost sunk that guillotine. Bonnar's timing in the striking looked a bit off too, especially in round 1. I'm guessing because it was his first time fighting in the show. But most importantly, he deserves a big ttt for stepping up to fight Bobby instead of going for Hoger and the $$$.
I thought Bonnar stole round 2.
But I honestly do think that others may disagree without being biased.
Which is why I don't fit in around here.
Bonner won hands down.
I really did not see any controversy. He totally pressed the fight, got the takedowns, just missed a sub, and landed more good shots. Bobby had a few good hard shots, as well, and some reversals.
DarrenDJ, why are insulting people who don't agree with you? I, like a lot of people, thought Bonner won the fight. I don't know if your kick comment is aimed at me or not, but it shows how childish you are being.
I actually like Bobby and Bonner. It was a good fight, the best one yet. I just thought Bonner won.
Well Darren, break it down for us.
The only thing I have Bobby winning is standup, and only slightly.
Bonnar slipped some good shots in in the second round. I think that
Bonnar won on the ground, won the takedown battle, and (between his
agressiveness and the takedowns) won the 'ring generalship category,
thus giving the (close) decision to Bonnar.
I could see how someone would give the fight to Southworth, but (for
the reasons I stated above) I think Bonnar won the fight. I would have
liked to see a third round, but if you were going to base it on two
rounds, I give it to Bonnar.
Just my opinion.
Greg
Tbidness: nice I'll see you there im sure. I will probably be fighting in Reinhardts next show and I think rory is too??
i agree.... i don't know how there are this many people agreeing that bonnar won... especially when on every other thread it seems like it's overwhelmingly agreed that bobby was robbed
horrible decision
Thought Bobby won both rounds!
What I don't get is the whole effective agression issue.
Effective agression is not eating punches while charging your opponent.
If Bonnar had forced Bobby into the fence or had Bobby covering up, then he would have scored for effective agression whether or not his strikes landed.
The fact that Bonnar ate numerous punches coming in and was never able to force Bobby against the cage negates any points for effective aggression.
Bobby was counterpunching effectively, which means he's scoring points effectively.
Bonnar did get the takedowns, but he was either easily reversed or taking punishment. I counted a couple of flush right hands to Bonnar's face while he was in Southworth's guard.
Neither person scored in positioning while on the ground, if they did, they negated each others points. However, Bobby did much more damage than Bonnar when they were on the ground.
Bonner won,get over it.
what fight did you guys watched.
Bonnar rocked Bobby in the first.
He landed at least as good strikes as Bobby in the second. He god takedowns, he got the spinning kick.
He was agressive.
There was nothing split about this decision.
Bonnar won.
Darrenjg-
Some emotionally driven teenagers may not see it that way, but if you are just looking at what happened in the ring, then BOBBY won that hands down.
You call that a " hands down" performance!?rolling eyes... I believe your statement is "emotionally driven" it was a decent fight that if you HAD to pick a winner it was Stephan.
Very slight edge to Bonnar, but I would liked to have seen a 3rd round being fought.
I think Bobby is a counter puncher and he for sure landed the harder shots on their feet. I thought Bonnar was better on the ground. I felt there should have been a 3rd round, but oh well. I did love that Bobby made fun of Chris and all teh talking he did when he lost but then he did the same thing.
