Trailer for Lionsgate’s upcoming action film Born a Champion, starring UGer Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day), Katrina Bowden (The Bold and the Beautiful), and Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow). The plot centers on American BJJ black belt Mickey Kelley (Flanery) getting pulled into an unsanctioned MMA tournament.
The film arrives in select theaters, on Digital, and On Demand on January 22, 2021. It is directed by Alex Ranarivelo (American Wrestler: The Wizard, The Ride), and written by Flanery and Ranarivelo.

i can’t think of any MMA movie that’s been more than just “entertaining”. It’s always the same plot… guy gets roped into (or has to) fight to support his family, atone for some past tragedy, etc, etc.

I know how you feel. That's why I never bothered with Kingdom. But when I watched it, it was awesome. This will be awesome.

Thats the nature of a trope but in this case there is no atonement. It's a good character, and great co-stars. There's a a slight Hank to the plot BUT the story is mostly based on stories and legends we've read of on the UG. It's definitely easily watchable.
