Boxing Day In Canada

I bought a Netgear router at Future shop & mailed in the $50 rebate that they said would take up to 6
weeks. Just got it a couple of weeks ago after 8 months
of waiting!

After typing all that shit in yesterday I treid to buy a 160 gig hard drive from their online store late last night, said they had 95 left. After I finished registering and ging through all the shopping checks it said there are non left, total time 10 mins. For anyone looking for computer stuff in the Vancouver area check out www.a-power.com

a-power.com rocks

"160 gig"??

I have 2 100gig Western Digital Hd, never knew they had these out already....WHats the Hd Brand?

160 gigs? That's a lot of porn and MMA.

Lol.

I work at Future Shop, in Kitchener. Some of you guys are telling some tall ass tales on this thread.

If any of you guys think you can show up at 3 in the afternoon on boxing day and pick up the items that were on sale you are insane. People line up at 4 in the morning to get that stuff and they sell out within the first few hours. They also don't hide anything in the back, if we say we don't have it we don't have it, there isn't some crazy scheme by Future Shop to screw you out of a POS 40 dollar DVD player.

Rmunduruca, we sell 250 gig hard drives too.

I agree that mail ins are a pain in the ass, but I have never heard anyone come back and complain about not getting their money back, and we sell a lot of products with mail in rebates.

As far as the salesman not caring, from my experience there are some rough sales associates but most are there to help you out. It gets frustrating when you spend an hour helping people out with their home theatre system or new PC only to have them say, "Well thanks anyway but we aren't buying today, we just wanted some information". Boom there goes an hour of your day where you made absolutely no money whatsoever.

As far as the servie plan goes it is a good deal, on some products more than others. If you are getting a TV, Home theater system, computer, notebook, LCD screen, or digital camera and don't get the warranty good luck if you have to do any repairs to it b/c you will pay out your ass for all those.

Anyway just a view from the other side.

Armbarking.... I used to work at future shop and know what goes on there. All that extended warrantee Bullshit... the prices for the " serice plan" is rediculous... also makes for some great commission when you sell it

Okay don't buy the warranty and see how much it is going to cost you to replace the LCD screen in your digital camera when one of the pixels burns out and you can see that spot in every picture you take.

Pretty much every employee that I know including myself purchases the product service plan. Yeah it is more money but I have seen so many people get easy over the counter exchanges on some old ass laptop for a brand new model with awesome specs it isn't funny.

ArmbarKings, it sucks when it says there are 100 left (even when you do a product availablity check), so you enter your email to register for everything and most likely their spam and then the product is not available. Here is a great happened to me story, went in looking to buy some home stereo speakers for my parents, the guy put on a set of CDN made, small bookshelf ones but the sound was unbelieveable, I asked if any bass boxes were on he said no, I said no way there has to be something else turned on in the display, he double checked eveything, no nothing else on he said. I started feeling all the boxes to see, then he said oh and ran over and turned off a huge bass box (that he looked at twice) and then they sounded like crap. Last time I've ever gone in there other than looking for a blow out sale item.

Mike.

I got the bait and switch. Straight up. Called them on it. Got the brush off. They changed their tune when I contacted HQ and threatened the BBB but they still tried to B&S with a lower model. I have never gone back.

I do have to say that I appreciate hearing from an employee. The only time I ask for help is when I want info or I want to buy something and I try to make that clear. I can see how it would suck to spend time on something that won't get you $$$.

I refuse to buy from either Future Shop or Staples business depot... as well as other super stores. Specialty stores are where to shop, not from those crooked super stores.

I bought two items with mail rebates last june and never received anything yet.

It's all bullshit, don't buy anything with mail rebates.

Armbarking... I do think it is worth it on Camcorders

i am thinking of getting a tv, should i get the product service plan or no? sony 27 inch.

On a TV I would go for it. The product service plan includes a performance guarantee meaning that if your television is not performing to the manufacturers standards throughout the time of the coverage they will either fix it or replace it.

Like I said before, on some things the PSP contract is not worth buying, but on other things like TV's it is a good buy.

Save your money. If you purchase plans like that for 20 years of buying electronics you may use it once. I got an idea take the price of the service plan & invest it. Do that for every electronic product you buy and see how much money you have in 20 years.

What a scam. come buy a brand new product that has a manufacturer's warranty and buy another warranty.
