Boxing or wrestling?

i train in BJJ

i would like to fight some amateur mma bout later in 2007.

what shall I do? boxing or wrestling to go with my BJJ?

Boxing, you need a grappling component and a striking component.

and if you had the choice betwen boxing and Muy Thai?

I've sparred against too many boxers to think boxing is better than Muay Thai.

I'd work on my wrestling personally.

Robin.

lol with some of the comments here im not surprised to see guys like Mike Stine show up on TUF and think they can stand a chance.

jujubre will your bjj gym also do MMA training with you? doing G&P on the ground and takedowns against someone trying to hit you?

I think you can find a better judo gym in France than wrestling

You should train everything for MMA. But if you can only choose one i would say judo or wrestling.

Boxing - like liyon said, you need to add striking to your grappling.

"jujubre will your bjj gym also do MMA training with you? doing G&P on the ground and takedowns against someone trying to hit you?"

nope..that is why i want to include an other style at my BJJ before going later this year at a real MMA school.

for info my takedown sucks bad.

i think you are correct. I am gonna include some judo and also try to go one times a week at Boxing and see what is better suited for me.

if I see that i am good at boxing (i have done some 4 years ago and I was quite a natural according to the instructor : he even told me that he could make a chapion of me..lol) i may do more boxing in order to specialise in it with my BJJ.

Go with boxing to round out a bit and in case you can't get it to the ground.Good hands are invaluable IMO but learn and practice wrestling takedowns and work them hard.

train MMA imo

Why not both?

""Why not both?"
only so many hours in the day, only so much money in the bank "

i do not have time to do whatever I want

"i do not have time to do whatever I want"

take the gi off and train mma

don't out think yourself
