boxing prospects to look out for

Some boxing prospects to look out for, if I had to put money on who will be champions in the next 2-4 years these are the guys i would choose -

From across the pond -

Josh Taylor (10-0) Scotland - Junior WW - He is not going to beat Crawford but if Crawford moves up, I think he will be the king of the division. He fights with confidence.

Josh Kelly (3-0) England - WW/SWW - He is being moved quickly. His first 3 opponents had records of (4-1), (6-1), and (4-1). Real crowd pleaser

Luke Campbell (17-1) England LW He has looked good in his last 3 outings. Would not be surprised if he beats Linares next week. If he loses - its only a bump in the road for him. Being a gold medalist, if he loses against Linares, its not the end of the road for him. If he beats Linares, LW division will be come even more exciting

Ryan Burnett - (17-0) current IBF champrion at BW. I think he is going to unify the division. If so a future fight with Naoya Inoue will be in the works.

Stateside -

Caleb Plant - SMW (17-0) - I have no idea if he is going to be champion but he is a fun fighter. I’m a TN guy and he is also, so I’m rooting for him.

Eimantas Stanionis - WW (2-0) Main training partner for Cotto for his last two fights. Gave him good work and fights with a mean streak.

Recap:

I think Kelley, Taylor, and Stanionis are the future at LWW,WW, and SWW. Its tough to say that with Crawford, Postol, Porter, Thurman, Spence, Lara, Charlo, etc at those weights. But I think these guys will make big waves.

Burnett is a champion already but maybe he can be a great champion.

Campbell and Plant have the talent but they are in tough weight classes

If you know of other prospects to look out for, list them.

You forgot to mention the participation in Mayweather vs Paquiao the next generation aka Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney

he's not a prospect anymore, but i think usyk outboxes any guy at heavyweight. he's not going to have much power, but i his chin can hold up there, then he will take any of those guys

Usyk is amazing. I am feel, I am very feel. You can’ beat that. I don’t know if that is a joke or not but I hope he sticks with it.

To me he has looked flat when he has fought in America, even though he won both fights easily, but his fights in Europe - he looks so talented. At first i thought he was on PEDs, but according to my Russian friend, I think russians and ukrainians speak the same language, his Ukrainian coach and training partners could not come to America when he trains in America. So if we want to see the best Usyk, its going to be when he has camps near his homeland.

Looks like I was wrong about Campbell. If he ever wins a title, he might be like george groves and need 3 or 4 chances.

Give me another chance to be more wrong. The next big thing at 122 is Tugstsogt Nyambayar. He is going to give Conlan and Stevenson all they can handle.

Thanks Alpha - for recommending Ryan Garcia, I know who Haney is.

Has anyone else noticed how badly the boxing promotions promote their fighter? I have no idea who to look for unless they were in the olympics. I have no idea who the next big American boxing stars are going to be.

Josue Vargas, Branden Pizzaro, Zelfa Barrett & Lyndon Arthur

Josh Taylor and Mick Conlan are the 2 prospects that I rate the highest right now. I like Shakur Stevenson a lot too.

You mentioned Caleb Plant,I like him as well. Being a southern guy, stuff with his kid. I don't think he's a future world champion but he's definitely a solid fighter. He'll probably fight for one though.

One other guy I’m high on - Joe Cordina, Olympian in 2016 for the UK

Have no idea what the UK is doing but for such a small population they are turning out some very good fighters. He fights on the 31st on the undercard of Parker and Joshua.

the 3 big guys to follow on the UK scene right now for me -

Joe Cordina

Josh Taylor

Josh Kelly

Doing everything contenders are supposed to be doing and doing it against solid opposition

Also not sold on Ryan Garcia. Don’t know what it is but something about him is off.

Anthony Yarde LHW from England

Im liking Ryan D Martin, kid is tough and fun to watch.

yup Ryan Martin has the potential to be one of the best in the world if he continue to improve

Josh Taylor just had a decent win over Postol, will start paying more attention to him from now on

Ryan Garcia too, very fast and only 19 years old, but (understandably for so young) hasnt faced any better fighters so hard to say, has looked good against those who he has fought against though

Heikki Mustola -

That Garcia I started following him on Twitter but had to stop. When he eventually  sucks a dick, all it's gonna taste of is relief

Josh Taylor is the real dea imo. He's not gonna be Crawford level but the boys is the goods.
