Brazilian Accents by Americans WTF

Ok check this out, I travel alot so I train at alot of gyms. I was at this gym last night and I took a bjj class. The bjj instuctor was your typical gringo looking american. He looked like he was from Nebraska or something. So this guy lets just call him Gus. So Gus taught the class RNC escapes. What was very odd about the techniques that Gus was showing the class was how he was describing the techniques. It sounded like this dude had one of the thickest Brazilian accents I have ever heard. Every time I closed my eyes I thought Royce Gracie was teaching. I was like WTF OMG. Has this ever happened to you?

I've found myself doing that after watching some instructionals, usually by Sperry or Saulo. I've called one of my guys Kress(sp) for years since since watching Saulo #1. Although, I could never duplicate Joe Moreira in his early videos. He was much easier to understand in person.

 Maybe he was Brazilian

lol

Would this instructor happen to be in SoCal? I am pretty sure I know who you are talking about as I have met him and this has been laughed about on many forums. He also lies to to people and says he is from Brazil.

Sometimes you get a mild case of this unconsciously. When I'm showing someone a move I say the word 'also' every five seconds because one of my coaches does.

I just love that the chin and the shin apparently have the same name Phone Post

I do find myself saying "faggot punshes" alot. But anyone who has seen Sperry's stuff has to admit its pretty damned funny.
