UFC middleweight Brendan Allen will fight in Jacksonville, FL against Bruno Silva after his headliner against Jack Hermansson was scratched.
Allen’s new booking was first reported by MMA Mania. The Allen vs. Silva fight adds to a building card on June 24th.
Allen and Hermansson were supposed to square off in the UFC Fight Night 226 main event on June 3rd. But, Hermansson suffered a recent injury in camp that forced him to pull out of the fight against Allen.
Allen will now fight three weeks later against the always-dangerous Silva at UFC Fight Night 228. The card is headlined by a matchup between featherweight contenders Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria.
Allen will look to make it six wins in a row against Silva at UFC Fight Night 226. He returns after back-to-back first-round finishes against Krzysztof Jotko and André Muniz.
After some up-and-down moments in the UFC, Allen has found his stride over the past two years. He has defeated the likes of Jacob Malkoun and Sam Alvey during his current win streak.
Silva returns after knocking out Brad Tavares earlier this month. He bounced back in a big way after losses to Alex Pereira and Gerald Meerschaert.
The Allen vs. Silva winner will move one step closer to the middleweight title picture and have a chance to cement themselves as a dark horse contender in the division.
