Headlines? Jesus
After trips to SĂŁo Paulo and New York City to open its November schedule, the mixed martial arts leader will be back at its home base for a UFC Fight Night card from the Apex.
While the event is just under three months away, the promotion confirmed a headliner for the Nov. 18 lineup this week, with ranked middleweight contenders Brendan Allen and Paul Craig set to throw down across five rounds in Las Vegas.
Allen, Craig Target Push Towards Middleweight Title Picture
In this main event showdown towards the end of 2023, both men will be looking to continue their momentum from previous wins this year into a push further up the middleweight ladder.
Allen (22-5) is currently enjoying his best run on MMA’s biggest stage to date, having won five consecutive Octagon outings. He’s climbed into contention this year owing to stoppage wins over a pair of Brazilians in André Muniz and Bruno Silva.
“All In” has made his displeasure with the rankings known. He even recently turned down a September headliner against the #7-ranked Roman Dolidze, citing his desire to fight a bigger name such as ex-champion Robert Whittaker.
Instead, the 27-year-old South Carolina native will fight three places down the pecking order against a recent divisional newcomer in Craig (17-6-1). After dropping back-to-back outings to Volkan Oezdemir and Johnny Walker at light heavyweight, “Bearjew” followed a successful test cut to 185 pounds with a debut at the lower weight.
At UFC London this past July, the Scotsman made an immediate impact in his new division by adding to the woes of the once highly touted Muniz, whom he stopped via TKO in round two. Craig will now look to push into the top 10 at the expense of a middleweight mainstay in Allen.
With this addition, the fights currently expected to take place at the UFC Fight Night event on November 18 are as follows:
- Brendan Allen vs. Paul Craig (middleweight main event)
- Amanda Ribas vs. Luana Pinheiro (strawweight)
- Chase Hooper vs. Jordan Leavitt (lightweight)
- Kyung Ho Kang vs. John Castañeda (bantamweight)
- Darrius Flowers vs. Ottman Azaitar (lightweight)
- Christian Leroy Duncan vs. CĂ©sar Almeida (middleweight)
- Payton Talbott vs. Nick Aguirre (bantamweight)
- Nikolas Motta vs. Trey Ogden (lightweight)
My countryman by sub in the 2nd round
Here’s the latest pod from my boys…
I may not understand some of our Scottish banter, but give it a go folks.
Keep it high
yikes at this fight card
Ha Wowza
What a delay time eh…
Fucking top (useless) men
Really uninteresting card….
Money fucks everything up.
I’d rather have 1-2 cards a month max that are stacked instead of a shit ton with garbage, watered down pieces of shit.
Yup they need to cut about 250-300 Nobodies off the roster
Allen I think
That’d still be less than half the active roster. The be better to keep them and introduce some intriguing parody other than the championship. Be cool if they had continental championships, Gane vs Aspinal for European HW champ, Perreira vs Walker for LHW South American champ etc. They have a fucking “bmf” fantasy belt but won’t implement the most basic fan service. So much they can do to have a better product and the UFC just feels like sterile corporate media.
I’d like to see the women have a separate promotion though.
