Not so sure about sportsmanship bonus.... but if Elias doesn't see the sportsmanship displayed by Stann then he needs to check himself.
I don't know when he hasn't displayed sportsmanship, including this fight, but encouraging fighters to not fight until the ref steps in is a. dangerous and b. can mess with the integrity of fights in several ways.

Your dead wrong on your points. Some people have a problem hitting defenseless fighters who they think are out, if it's dangerous then that's on him. Some people would rather take that risk then maim someone else due to a possible poor judgement from a ref.
As far as mess with the integrity of fights in several ways... WTF? You have to be kidding right? Once again, that falls on him to make that decision, it's his fight not yours.
Why not. Everyone talking about bones being cocky. Ever since papy got signed to the UFC, he's been walking around like his shit don't stink. He called out a legit fighter like alves, got destroyed, and still thinks he's a bad ass? Then, gets subbed by James fucking Head? Hope this fight humbles him a bit.
Sportmanship Bonus is a brilliant idea, and Stann would be the perfect candidate for the first recipient. All these guys go for the bonuses and putting a Sportmanship one in there will give them all something to think out before they disrespect their downed opponents. That being said, it would be pretty hard to pick a single guy each fight, and it would run the obvious risk of these guys taking it too far and getting a little carried away with the post fight hugging and kissing. Great idea in theory, but very difficult to institute.

It's pretty easy to see Stann is a genuinely good guy and that was definitely a classy move in stopping himself. He easily could have landed another couple shots had he waited for the ref to stop it.
Pretty rare to see somebody fight with the incredible ferocity and intensity as he does in the midst of a fight yet be able to be so aware and turn it off in a split second when he knows it's done. Good to see guys that competitive without the desire to harm anyone.
Its already happened multiple times, where a fighter stops thinking his opponent is done, but the ref doesnt step in and then that same fighter loses. You finish fights when the ref says its over, not when you think your opponent has had enough.
I have nothing against a walk away KO or letting go of your opponent when you choke him unconscious, but the Stann fight is a good example of where things could have gone wrong... Stann woke up Sakara with the 2nd punch on the ground. If the ref had chose not to step in, Stann stopping would have been a HUGE mistake. I dont want to see people halfassing armbars in order to try and win some sportsmanlike bonus.
Completely agree, though, the first recipient should be Sam Stout when he KO'd Yves Edwards. He saw that Yves was out and stopped. But, Stann is completely deserving of a bonus for Sportsmanship. Sadly, this sport (especially nowadays) could use some more sportsmanship
