Brock invites fan over to his house

As much crap as he gets (I admit, I was also pulling for Randy), he seems like he is actually a cool guy. Here is a link to the story if a bluenamer wants to help me out.

In a Midwestern tableau, a petite hunter, her cooing baby and an Ultimate Fighter gather

The Lesnar Buck met the real deal Friday.

Grasping the huge set of antlers with hands like suitcases, Minnesota's most famous wrestler and mixed-martial arts fighter, Brock Lesnar, uttered one word: "Awesome."

He also gave diminutive Kelly Gustafson, the young woman who bagged and named the 27-pointer after Lesnar, a big hug.

"Congratulations. That's a deer of a lifetime," Lesnar said.

It was an oddly Midwestern meeting between fighting and wrestling royalty and a surprised small-town hunting family.

Imagine a Norman Rockwell painting with a 6-foot-3, 265-pound man, a set of large deer antlers and a cooing baby as centerpieces.

Gustafson, the 23-year-old mom of a 7-month-old girl, bagged the monster buck on her family's Welch, Minn., property Nov. 8. A fan of the mixed-martial arts sport of ultimate fighting, Gustafson named the deer after Lesnar because the deer had broken off three antlers while battling other bucks.

A week after Gustafson shot the deer, the real Lesnar manhandled rival Randy Couture to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight belt in Las Vegas. Lesnar's mother read about Gustafson's deer in the Pioneer Press and called her son with the story.

"Everybody knows I'm a deer hunter, and when I read this lady named a deer after me, I said, 'That's cool. I want to meet her,' " Lesnar said.

The Gustafson family met Lesnar, 31, and his wife at their rural home in Independence, Minn., just west of the Twin Cities.

Kelly

brought her baby, Peyton, her husband, Rich, and her brother, Josh Otto.
They were met by Lesnar's father, Rich, because Brock was running late. When Peyton caught Rich Lesnar's eye, the older Lesnar said, "Come over to Grandpa," and Peyton began cooing endlessly in his arms.

The day would get better for Kelly, a longtime fan of Lesnar, who also wrestled professionally and won an NCCA heavyweight title at the University of Minnesota.

When Brock arrived with his wife, Rena, who wrestled professionally under the name Sable, a grinning Peyton was handed around.

"What a happy baby!" Rena gushed.

The Gustafsons and Lesnars chatted about deer hunting, ultimate fighting and Peyton's charming demeanor. The baby was dressed in a camouflage fleece snowsuit, and all the Gustafsons wore camo hunting jackets.

Lesnar apologized for being late. "I left the heavyweight belt back at the other house and I had to drive back and get it," he said sheepishly. He was still sporting five stitches over his right eye from the Couture fight.

Everyone handed around Lesnar's gold and silver Ultimate Fighting Championship belt.

"It's so heavy," Kelly Gustafson said. "Do you really have to wear that?"

"Yep," Lesnar replied.

He signed the muzzleloader rifle Gustafson used to bag the buck, numerous hats and shirts and several copies of the Pioneer Press newspaper article.

Lesnar said he hasn't been deer hunting this fall because of training for his recent fight. He once dabbled in making hunting videos but decided he really enjoyed being alone in the woods.

"I'm in front of the cameras too much already," he said, adding he was headed to Manitoba next week to help his brother on a deer hunt.

The Gustafsons spent an hour and a half in the Lesnar garage, gabbing about hunting and family life. The Lesnars announced they are expecting a baby in June.

"Wow, congratulations!" Kelly said.

Strangers just 90 minutes earlier, the Gustafson and Lesnar families exchanged hugs when they parted.

"What a great family," Rena said of her visitors.

Afterward, while driving home to Welch, Kelly said: "I don't think it has clicked. I just met Brock Lesnar and his wife, Sable. He's such a sweetheart. A real big teddy bear."

And it all started because of a deer.

The damn link just won't work for me dangit.

More fluffing going on in this thread than a Jenna Jameson film

so they named a dead deer that was really big and powerful after lesnar. they killed the deer!!! wtf?

It's weird - if I copy and paste the link into my browser it works but the embedded ones don't work. Anyway - nice to have Joe Rogan on one of my threads.

How people can hate on Brock still is just beyond me!

Yeah - I don't get the whole hunting thing either. It's not my bag, but I just thought it was a cool article.

I Thought it was nice to see that Brock isn't always an asshole.

"Brock nice, Brock talk to lady.... gaaar.... BRock like shiny belt..."

I was really dissapointed he won but if he keeps training as hard as he does he will truly be an unstoppable Frate Trane

Thanks for sorting out the link Joe, it's the only one I got working, started thinking I was getting trolled to MatBattle for a while there on the other links.

Nice article, never deer hunted in my life and never will but Lesnar seems like a likeable no bullshit kind of guy which I like.

Joe, just out of curiousity, do you use this site as a tool to aid your commmentary with antidotes about fighters at times??

Interesting question

The antidote to the run of the mill MMA sites is MMA.TV - that's what he meant...

cool story, it was the anecdote to my boredom for a few minutes.

Antidotes huh? LMFAO!

Hurry Joe, get the antidote before Randy dies from the poisen dart shot at him by the Riddler!

I believe the word you were looking for was anecdotes.

LOL you are exactly right, it's about 2am here and I've a skinful of beer, so excuse me! I kne w it didnt seem quite right but was too much effort to figure out the right spelling in my curren tstate.

I was pulling for Randy to but knew what would probably happen. I pretty much try to hate Brock, but he actually seems like a down to Earth, decent guy despite what he showed against Herring. He seems to be cool but I still find myself hoping for Nog just to see him pay the same dues.

When he is poisoned by mma fighters spitting in his eye he does indeed use antidotes he received from this site. It has saved his life on many occasions. Thank god for antidotes!

:)

edited.

victorpoprock - Hunting is a good way to feed your family with a very lean meat harvested from an animal that isn't pumped full of growth hormones.

Beef you buy from your local grocer is full of dyes and artificial preservatives. I'm not gonna feed that shit to my family unless I absolutly have to. The deer are so plentiful in my area, that I haven't had to buy chemically laced beef in a long time.

Yeah, go all natural.

Like our ancestors, who lived to to age of 35 before dying of their all natural diet.
