Brock is just too big, too heavy, and doesn't have the big fight experience to get his nerves down. Yes, he's fast, but pushing 275 lbs around that quickly requires huge amounts of endurance.
Randy will try to frustrate Brock, make him chase him around the octagon, keep his range and make Brock shoot from outside. Many people will complain that Randy is running away and making the fight boring. Randy will just try to get Brock to keep moving with his nerves up as long as possible, and force a bad shot.
Brock has not exactly kept the secret that he's a bit of a hothead. Couture knows every trick in the book and will use them to get inside Brock's head. Brocks frustration will only serve to burn gas and force mistakes.
I know Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature, but we know fighters this big that fight with high intensity gas when they get shots stuffed or have to eat jabs and have to fight into deeper rounds. And if there's one man who knows how to draw out that result, its Randy.
While Couture tries using tricks from a book, he best be careful not to look away and get FRATE TRAINED
"He pushed Herring around for 3 straight rounds non-stop....at the end of that fight he looked like he could easily go 2 more."
That's because he barely had to work for his takedowns, and once he got them he laid in top position. Herring just can't stop a takedown anymore, he couldn't stop O'Brien either. Randy will make him work CONSIDERABLY harder for takedowns, and knows how to force scrambles and scare Brock with submissions far better than Herring.
I hope Brock is practicing dirty boxing uppercut defenses
^ It's not a theory, its very real. And the reasons are above. Randy is a student of MMA, he knows that his best chance of winning is getting Brock in to deeper rounds and wearing him down. And to do that, he'll make him shoot from outside, he'll tie him up in a greco clinch, and he'll make him chase him all around the cage.
I don't think Couture will submit Lesnar either. I do think when this thing hits the ground you will see Randy threaten submissions to force scrambles. Brock knows that's a weak spot in his game, if he gets he's getting his neck bugged or Couture goes for a leg he can force a scramble. Brock had zero answer for that kneebar and will likely respond if his legs are threatened.
hope so
FRATE TRAIN
The frate trane runs on coal, bitches.
Lesnar R8 via keeping the fires burning.
Wrestling/fighting a huge strong guy with some skills takes enourmous amounts of energy. Everyone who has fought/wrestled with much larger guys knows this.
Mad Xyientist - Herring just can't stop a takedown anymore, he couldn't stop O'Brien either.
O'Brien is a great wrestler. He also took Arlovski down easily.
While I think that wearing Brock out is a good strategy for Randy, and one probable part of his game plan, I don't think its the sole defining variable of his plan. I think Randy will be looking for the take down himself.
Herring had virtually no shot of effecting a take down on Brock, Randy does (at least a much better shot than Herring did). Look at Randy's fights against other wrestlers - with Kevin Randleman, all he really had to do was get one takedown and put Kevin on his back to win the fight, and he did just that. He was actually losing that fight up until that takedown, but played it safe until he got his one golden opportunity. Same thing (kind of) against Vanarsedale, - he played along with the game until he got his one opportunity (he knew Vanarsedale wasn't very submission savvy, and thus he tried the same d'arce choke over and over until he got it).
I think he's gonna do the same to Brock; can you really imagine Lesnar being any real threat off of his back? He'll most likely do the "dying cockroach" (which is what Randy labeled Randleman's performance off of his back in their fight) and provide Randy with a TKO or submission victory (most likely a choke). Brocks not gonna attempt an armbar, triangle, prob not gonna play spider guard, he's gonna panic if Randy ends up in mount, etc.
The trick will be whether Randy scan weather the early storm, where he will inevitably be put on his back - this is Randy's one big weakness (as demonstrated in his fights against Ricco and Barnett) - a much bigger stronger guy that can put Couture on his back has a decent shot at getting a TKO victory.
So I guess I agree with the thread starter that Randy's gonna try to wear Lesnar down, but mainly to set up a takedown.
just my two cents anyways...I'll probably be wrong and Lesnar will win by flying triangle in the first 15 seconds
Sagiv Lapkin - He pushed Herring around for 3 straight rounds non-stop....at the end of that fight he looked like he could easily go 2 more.
the thread ends here.....its true. and herring is a giant compared to couture and even more so now that couture is even smaller then he used to be. the only way brock can lose is if randy pulls off some sort of leg submission. honestly. hes not gonna out box the guy, he cant out wrassle him. what the hell can randy do but survive? hes done for. sorry captain america.
Whoever gets on their back first starts the path to gassing. They will have to get back to their feet, sweep, or do something, because the other guy's gonna run them dry quick-fast.
I just checked wikipedia, apparently brock has been in some fights that last a lot longer than 25 minutes, hell in a cell with the undertaker and an hour long iron man match with kurt angle
mega lolz at Brock gassing.
Brock wrestled main event matches day in day out sometime half hour to an hour straight, these guys wrestle each night 300 times a year - yes these are fake in the sense there is no competition, however the fact remains he was active in the ring dancing aorund, throwing people about exherting energy - you cant fake that shit. Thats why he looked so fresh at the end of the herring fight, that was a walk in the park for him compared to what he's done for years previous.
The simple minded of you will accuse me of trolling or being retarded or something else equally hilarious but believe it people. Im sure they may be even a few "pro" wrestlers on here who will back this up.
Oh and before someone says, being hit in the face for real will gas you far more than fake wrestling - you think these guys dont take knocks? christ man they get beatdowns, do you know how many injuries these guys get? The dude is quite literally an unstoppable frate train, he can take the knocks, he has a gas tank - once he learns how to fight properlly everyones in trouble.
For the record, i think Randy will submit him, Rear naked choke.
Brock isn't like some undersized roider with muscles too big for his body. He's naturally an enormous man, and he has a huge heart and lungs to oxygenate all that blood and keep things working.
The 45 year old with the 55 lbs. weight disadvantage will gas, however, if he doesn't simply get overwhelmed before that happens.
LOL at judging his endurance from a pro wrestling match. I don't even know where to start with that.
Trust me and others that have trained with him.. He will not gas out.
