He doesn't get paid to train, he gets paid to fight. He could have sat on his fat arse fo allr the UFC cared. Looks like he might of done just that anyways.

He doesn't need to do a full schedule for WWE. He can just show up once a week for the live show. Hell he doesn't even need to show up every week for that.
No chance Brock would travel to house shows or whatever. They would not require that of him, just the weekly TV appearance.
Genious -If I was the UFC brass, I would basically start over with Brock. He needs to have a couple of fights against lower level guys, to get his confidence back. He needs more time to develop, to bring his skills along, to learn the fight game a little better. After 2-3 wins and 12-18 months of good health and training, I think Brock would be in a good position to take one last crack at the big time.
I agree that would be best for his career, but the problem is that he is too big a name and demands too big a pay check. There's no way the UFC will "waste" him with fights against up-and-comers or gatekeepers. It's too expensive.
He'll be back, probably 12-18 months from now, and he'll be fighting a contender, or a former big name looking for a fight - with the winner being up for a shot at the title.
