Bruce Lee fans WTF?

Do you guys think the Triads killed him?

Indeed... For teaching kung fu to the round eyes.

I heard it was over money like every other mob hit.

Miguel cro cop - I'd rather listen to another 20 years of Mcnoobs than listen to 5 minutes of the bullshit they come out with. I had a Bruce Lee fan tell me with a serious face he'd beat Tyson and Ali in boxing.

Same here I've had 2 fans claim Lee would kill Tyson in a street fight..when you tell them how Lee never even fought a single match, they start making shit up

Stin - If Bruce got his ass kicked in ufc1, you'd better believe he's be much better prepared the next time he entered the octagon.
If you know anything about Bruce Lee, you know he had an incredible work ethic.
He'd have done well in anything he wanted.
This.

I wouldn't say he was a world beater, but it is a FACT he was an athletic freak as well as a tactician; he would have evolved his game more than anyone else.

As stated above, he would be good at anything he wanted to be.

He didn't even spar.

Bruce was a movie star who would never step up. He knew full well when he lost he'd have no value as a martial arts star.

He was all about looking like a fighter. He never trained as one. WIng Chun kung fu? LOL
Nothing you said is true.

I get ppl blow him out of proportion, but not knowing his accomplishments or lying about them is pretty weak.

name one opponent other the wong jack, a busboy at a resturaunt.  He wouldn't spar with anyone other than his lackies. There were a lot people ready to see if he could back his talk up and if he found himself in their vicinity, he left quickly. As for His deep thoughts, they were all plagurized from a indian guy named Krishnamurti.

Everything I said is true. He never stepped up. Never tested himself, and never competed.

If you have evidence he did, present it.

Even his "sparing" was non-competitive and non-contact. Go find me some testomony of him doing real (hard) sparring. Good luck.

Guys who train can answer these questions easily.

1. WHat gym do you train at?
2. Who is your trainer/coach/sensei
3. How many hours per week do you train?
4. WHo are your sparring partners?

Bruce had minimal actual training. He trained under a con-man opiate junkie peddling bulshit a little bit, and was called a terrible student by him.

All this "oh Bruce trained boxing and wresting and blah blah" is bullshit unless you can answer the above questions.

And yeah, this.

ANd by the way, according to everyone besides Bruce and Linda Lee, Wong Jack Man treated Bruce like an insolent child and restrained him while he threw a shit fit.

we not talkin bout somebody else right now. period

Lol ridiculous.

That fight was also predicated on the content of Bruce's demonstrations at the time, when local karate practitioner Yoichi Nakachi took issue with Bruce's martial arts worldview and loudly issued a challenge. Yoichi pursued him for weeks. When the two finally fought, Bruce obliterated Yoichi with a rapid series of perfectly places punches and a knockout kick in an 11-second fight that left him unconscious with a fractured skull.

I think if he'd have been in early UFC we'd have had one of those bubble bursting realization moments. He'd have been standing across the octagon from Tank Abbott and people would have been like "This fat guy aint gonna land a punch on him, Bruce is too fast"

10 seconds later he would have been an unconscious heap on the floor.

Bruce via armbar.

Bruce via the justice system after Tank is arrested on manslaughter charges for Lee's death and the UFC folds, never holding another event.

well i'm a total BL fan but read Gene LeBell thought BL grappling was important as he carried BL around from a grappling range. Therefore BL as creative as he is, implement grappling range into his JKD. If he knew Helio GJJ, I'm sure BL would of implemented it into his art too.

So yes BL could lose in a fight back then. He wasn't a tourny fighter but rather street.

Even Joe Lewis respected BL. Joe Lewis wanted to fight BL so badly until they spared together or something rather to that.

Lee would never spar with Lewis. Never. He's stated this many times. Most people believe that's where Lee picked up his "nutritional supplement" knowledge though. Another guy that isn't remembered as much now, but was very well respected then, Jim Harrison, was always trying to "get that llittle rice picker(as he called him)on the mat". Lee would enter elusive mode if he was ever in the same vicinity as Harrison. I don't think it should be held against him though, he was a child actor, who had managed to transfer into adult acting with his hobby of martial arts and it would be very bad for business to have pictures of his severely beaten body splashed across the tabloids both here and in hong kong..

Bruce only sparred with his students. Many others cross trained in those days, also Kajukenbo had been around a few years and was well known on the West Coast back then. Bruce never fought anyone of any known skill. Making claims about his fighting prowess is akin to claiming the best guy on the playground basketball court could be competitive in the NBA.

that's a good one. Are you john little or the attorney for the estate? My favorite was greenlight. Remember him? He was the douchebag that sold merchandise and advertising rights for the estates of dead celebrities. Of course he wasn't forthcoming about any business ties with the Lee estate, just an awe struck devotee of the master, spreading the gospel. He would wax poetic about the miracles Lee performed for hours on here. Of course 99.9% of the stories were like the link, selective positive sources and the complete abscense of any contrary information, glossed with the appearance of legitimate journalism.

The Bruce Lee that we knew from that era would probably not stand a chance since he had no professional fight experience and martial arts were very different back then.

But...

Bruce Lee was no doubt not just a talented martial artist but a very special and unique human in general. He was already a mixed martial artist in that he believed in being open minded and picking the best techniques from all martial arts.

A young Bruce Lee born today, that applied his talents specifically to MMA and prize fighting would probably be competitive in the UFC.
