Starting at the end of August I went on a 6 day a week routine with cardio 3x a week. I had two leg days, Monday(squat day also) and Thursday(deadlift day), Tuesday was chest/tri and Wednesday was back/bi. And Fridays I hit shoulders with tri's again. Then Saturday mornings I just did biceps for a pump and then either hooped or did rounds on a heavy bag. I had a pretty good diet during it too, actually great for a 23 year old college kid. Only supplements was pre workout ON amino energy, post workout whey, and casein before bed. Did this religiously every week up until thanksgiving. And now I am fucking burnt out more than I have ever been and I've been lifting pretty hard for 5 years now. I have no motivation and my workouts have been shit all week. Has anybody ever been this burnt out??
Take a week off. You'll be glad that you did.
Even from cardio? I ate like a fat fuck my entire thanksgiving break
Also have had a sore wrist for like 3 weeks from when my wrist gave on a punch on the heavy bag, if anybody has any familiarity with this
De-load for a week. Back off the weight and reps on your lifts by 50% and only do light LSD cardio. Make sure you are getting in enough quality calories too.
What are you training for? Sounds like a pretty random plan. 5-6 days of lifting with 3 days of cardio is just too much work. You will just keep burning yourself out like this every 3 months.
Time to switch programs? I did this last week and it really boosted my training.

Great point.
I've started doing A LOT more assistance-work, and boy am I enjoying the workouts more!
De load...no really. Take a minimum of a week off. 10 days is usually perfect for me.
OP, I think we've all been through burn out and the plateaus. Here's my two cents. I stopped doing programs a while ago and workouts are more enjoyable. I know that many people swear by them, but personally I get bored w them.
Every time that I go to the gym is a different workout and unplanned. Some times it's a traditional body part split, push/pull, max out day, cardio day, all body weight, etc.
I might have had better results from sticking w traditional programs but working out this way is a lot more fun to me now.

Just about everyone seems to burn out on 6 day a week programs and going to the gym becomes a real chore. After you've taken a break try a 3 day a week program.
my wrists have been shot for 12 years. bone and soft tissue damage, dont let that stop u. but anyways, 6 days a week is crazy. id get the flu after 3 weeks on that routine. how about just cutting back to 3 or 4 days a week after a week off. seems easy to me.
I remember taku or maybe it was you leigh but one of you posted that your gym member regularly take a month off and come back and break their PRS.
I've taken this week off so far. I've been doing some dynamic stretching and that's it. My wrist is still sore when bent back like for a BB bench or push up position. Kind of want it to hurry up and heal so I can get back to lifting hard
