Buying a Windows 7 disc through CL TME

Don't do it. I realize that if you're asking this question you are a person that is not well versed in computer software. That's okay, but, you're probably wasting your money on a scam.

1. Does your computer have a 64 bit processor? Changing from 32 bit to 64 bit software doesn't matter (and can sometimes in fact be detrimental) if your processor is 32 bit.

2. The license/key belonging to that disc is probably in use already, and the person selling it is scamming you. You won't realize the key doesn't work until you try to install it, and by that time the seller will be back in Nigeria (though they probably never left).

3. As other members have said, you can use your 32 bit Windows 7 key to change to 64 bit Windows 7. You do not need to buy Windows again.

5. You can get Windows for free, illegally, very easily.

6. Linux is a free, easy, powerful alternative to Windows.

He's selling you an HP restore disk. Not a windows 7 install disk at all.

Isn't Windows 10 going to be free for a year?

By the looks of it I can use 64-bit. Do you know how to obtain my key without physically having it?

Im not buying through him I am just looking for alternatives now. I specifically need windows 7 64-bit so linux is out of the question. I hadn't tried torrents for fear of malware etc. As you said, I am not versed.

can i find out my key without having the box or cd? Like I said in OP i have misplaced it.

You would need to download a Windows 7 key finder program to find your key. Phone Post 3.0

PoiuPoiu - why do you need the 64 bit version ?
Trying to run a hack for a game my friend wrote. Only problem is it only works for 64bit and not my 32. Phone Post 3.0

If you have a retail key (which I'm guessing you don't, if your Windows 7 came preinstalled on your PC), you can use those retail ISO files, and your key would work.

If you have an OEM key, you would need an OEM version of Windows, but I wouldn't know where to find that.

There are hacking tools you could use to change a retail installation to OEM, but I don't think you'd want to get into all of that.

I believe you can also change a retail disc to OEM by editing some file, but I haven't tried that myself. Phone Post 3.0

This is what you're looking for:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Microsoft-Windows-7-Professional-SP1-64-Bit-OS-w-HDD-/231468642859?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35e49b322b

Since it looks like you have an OEM Dell computer this OEM Dell OS install disc will work to install 64-bit Windows 7 on your computer.

Here's some more info on how OEM (Dell, HP, Sony, etc) windows 7 activation works:

Agent Kruger - Dude, just Google DAZ Win 7 x64 loader. I used that 2 years ago and haven't had any issues with my computer at all, ever. Phone Post 3.0

This what youre talking about?

Yeah I think I should clarify, my device was not preinstalled windows 7 it was XP.

PoiuPoiu - side note: you cant "upgrade" 32 to 64. it has be a clean install.

What I'm trying to do. I already have my shit backed up on my external HDD, I just simply need to initiate the reset and pick 64bit. Just trying to figure out cheapest/safest method. Phone Post 3.0

Daz loader, seriously fuck paying for.windows. plus there Is always linux...... Phone Post 3.0

First step is getting your actual license key. You can often find them on old comps/laptops that aren't in use anymore. If you have an existing install you can also grab the key with a utility as others noted. Also people are selling them fairly cheap on ebay. However, you risk that the key is already on internet and may be blacklisted.

When you pay for an OS you are basically paying for the key. Getting the actual physical install media is the easy part. Don't buy a random disk off CL, that will get you nothing if you don't have the key.

I consider myself an expert in this area and have run other OG'ers through the process of legal OS reinstalls. Drop me a line if you have any other questions.

if you know anyone in college, there are all sort of sweet deals directly from MS - google around,,you can get that shit for like 20 bucks

where does daz loader get the key from?

is it something like being able to use 1 single use OEM disk on multi machines?

Okay I obtained my serial number for my Windows 7 using Belarc Advisor. All my shit is backed up. Now I just need a way to initiate a windows 7 home premium install. I tried a few sites and some that are listed in here but the result has always been:

The Page or File You Requested Could Not Be Provided

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.

Suggestions? Again the OEM for my pc was XP, I bought a retail windows 7 copy that I used once and have since been unable to locate. I now have that serial number, just no way to initiate the reinstall.

Thanks again homies

I thought I found a legit source here:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery

I typed in my serial number and I get this message....

Unsupported Language Error

The language you've selected is not available for the product you are eligible for. Please select a different language.

I don't even..... wtf? Again, I have a LEGITIMATE windows 7 serial that was purchased in the US no less.
