anyone here ever been a buyer or a purchasing agent?
research & negotiate prices all day for a company wouldn't be so bad IMO and I see some opportunities here where I could make more money.
think this would be a decent career or be helpful experience for the future?
I knew a person trying to be a buyer for Guess. From my understanding it is an easy job because you get to boss around your assistants(she was an assistant) all day and they do your job for you. You get to that position by putting up with bs from your boss(the official purchasing agent) and kissing up to management well enough so that when your boss leaves you get promoted. But it is an easy job, so anyone that has it will hold onto it very tightly, and everyone wants toget to that level so there is a good amount of backstabbing by the assistants to the buyer.
