C.B. Dollaway's TUF 7 episode 7 blog

Here's the link.  C.B. writes a great blog, but I don't agree with his assessment about Cale's decision win over Schultz.  Forrest and Rampage don't determine whether or not the fight goes to a 3rd round...the judges do.  I found this particular blog to be a little biased.

I personally didn't think Patrick won round 1, but what do I know.

I think Dollaway is about to start storming through the remaining competitors.

"I would score round two 10-9 for Cale, but I had round one scored 10-8 for Schultz."

So he thought the first round was more dominating than the second?

Yeah, I think his dislike for Cale skewed his judgement on this fight.  This blog comes across a little sour-grapes, imo.

Not sure about the Rampage being mad at Forrest thing. It's not like both coaches can agree on a 3rd round.

The judges decide that regardless of what the corners think.

Maybe I missunderstood what he was saying.

He saw two knock downs in round one. That is why he had it 10-8, the point he was making in his mind the rules are not scorecard based. You have to win two rounds, if you do not it goes to a third for a tie breaker. 10-8 or 10-9 was irrelevant as the 1st round belonged to Pat and the second was clearly won by Cale.

>>>From watching it on TV and hearing about it a few times from my team, it was clear that Rampage was pissed about Forrest's lack of backbone. When Dana White said "we have a decision," both coaches were on the same page and saying "no way" and "we need a third round." Then out of nowhere Forrest backs down from his "we will do a third" comments and accepts a BS win.

Rampage says what he means and means what he says. He expects that out of everyone around him. His furry is less about a close fight going to Team Forrest and more about the fact that had Team Rampage got that win, Quinton would have still wanted a third round. What is right is right, and that is what sent Quinton over the edge.<<<

No, you didn't misunderstand what he was saying.  I'm not sure what he expected Forrest to do...he did say Cale was willing to go another round.  Again, his statements come across as sour-grapes to me.

Hell no. If Ramps got that win with Pat he wouldn't have continued vouching for a 3rd round. He'd keep his mouth shut too and make a joke comment about it later. He's far too competitive for that and a win's a win.

I wish they would've read the scores. I had it tied after 2 rounds. Since it was a majority decision, I guess one of the judges agreed.

Did the other 2 judges have Cale winning both rounds, or did they have it 9-10 (Rd 1), 10-8 (Rd 2)?

I think they probably had the second round as 10-8...that's my guess, anyway.

 "Forrest's lack of backbone"

Between this comment and him thinking that Round 1 was a 10-8 round for Shultz, I am convinced that CB has no idea wtf he is talking about and will take any future posts, blogs, comments with a grain or sand.

"For me the funniest line was when Patrick told Forrest to shut up and that he couldn't wait for his fight against Rampage. That is Patrick's East Coast swagger in full effect."

For me the funniest part would be if Shultz gets put on Forrest's team somehow and Forrest gets to kick his ass all over the UFC training center for opening his mouth.

I was actually shocked at the total bias in C.B.'s blog...he usually writes a great blog.  lol

I had the first round a draw (knock down isn't automatic 10-8 in MMA, that is boxing) the two late takedowns and bit of Ground and Pound evened out the superior striking of Shulz.

Second round 10-9 Cole borderline 10-8. Shulz did nothing but defend.

I have a feeling that nobody is going to "storm" through this season. FRom what I've seen already, there is a lot of heart in that house and nobody is going down easy.

As is, quite a few of the preliminary fights could be considered "comeback" wins. Riddle and Harris both appeard to be well on their way to victory, It seems like a decent amount of people feel that Brandon's loss to Dante was BS (I think it was the right call, IMO) Also the fight last night where people seem to think it should go to a third round (I also thought the decision was the right call, but again...MO) Matt Brown started slow, but ended up turning it up. almost every fight has been close. Nobody has yet to just walk through opponents. You guys can go ahead and criticize these guys, but I see a lot of heart there. That and the match ups have been great. The fighters have match up well so far and made the fights competetive. Just when you think someone is dominating, they lose it. It's a good season so far.
