Caged Life

Alright so I am finalizing my site design and need your input. I also need your input on the new plan for the site. the web address is http://cagedlife.homestead.com.  When I go live it will be just cagedlife.com.

The idea for the site is to be a web series consisting of twelve 15 minute episodes following an average joe training to pursue a dream of fighting in a mixed martial arts match. Similar to a "Made" type show. For the first season it will be myself going through the training and lifestyle change to ultimately have an MMA fight in August at Reality fighting in Wildwood NJ. I hired a small production company in my area that will go to all my training sessions and film my daily life as I go through the lifestyle change it takes to fight. (Right now I just have Submissions 101 channel on it to show where the video player will be.)

As the site grows I will branch out into other show concepts including reality based shows following professional fighters and also hopefully streaming live regional MMA shows.

To fill space on the bottom of the page I included news feeds from three of the bigger MMA sites. Also, if you own an MMA company of an kind and are interested in becoming a sponsor of the site or of the web series please PM me, I am putting out a little more money than I am comfortable with to make the show happen but it will be worth it hopefully.

TTT any criticism is greatly appreciated.

and me with the pathetic second self TTT

looking for some criticism on the site and if you guys have any ideas that might better it.

I also really am looking for some sponsors for both the site and the show itself.

"Season one will follow Kyle, a 22 year old account executive living in PA. He has been
an MMA fanatic for many years and never took the plunge into trying to do it himself.
He wrestled for two years in high school, and that is about it. We will follow him as
he tries to overcome his inexperience and take a Mixed Martial Arts fight with just 6
months of training. "

even tho thats probably going to be cool to watch, its also the thing that bugs me about MMA and IMO is whats going to kill it

Monsters Ball - I guess I wonder how much of a market there is for watching beginners. Sometimes TUF is hard enough to watch and you want to make a show about people just starting out.

Maybe there is a market for that with people that want to learn how to get into the sport. Honestly for me that just doesn't seem real watchable more than once or so.

Maybe I'm missing the point of what you are doing?

Anyway, that would be my criticism whether accurate or not.
I think that's where being on the internet is a bonus. TUF has to compete on a national level being on cable television. If they get 1 million people to tune in during the first run of an episode it isn't considered succesful, if I get 10% of that across 12 episodes over the lifetime of the internet it can be considered succesful.

I don't think you are missing the point, but we can't be compared to a show with national visibility on one of the biggest cable networks owned by one of the biggest media comglomerates out there.

To also answer BuffGeo's criticism - This first web series is basically a starting off point into what I want to do with MMA Media. Eventually I'd like to expand into producing more MMA series following more well known fighters. And I really can't get with you when you say this will "kill" MMA because doesn't every MMA fighter start somewhere with training? It just happens that we want to film people getting their starts.

I think its an ok and unoriginal concept but I will still watch it and look forward to your first episode. Also I think you would be better off to try and get as good as you possibly can at striking, takedowns and ground and pound. You aren't going to be that great with only 6 months of JiuJitsu. Keep us updated

As far as originality I know I'm not trying to recreate the wheel. I am bscially trying to create an entertain web series for a very highly targeted demograpic.

This is what my base schedule looks like (outside of this I will be training directly with the head instructor on strictly Mixed Martial Arts):

good luck!
this is a great project

good luck...sounds like a good project that should help with progression of the sport...TTT

Im sorry i didnt notice its a web series, i just read it quickly and assumed it was cable

I think there will always be a market interested online for things like this... hell, thats why blogging is so popular now

Oh and what I meant by 'killing it' is things like the TUF show were every kid in the world thinks THATS how you act and live if ya want to be a fighter. Then they act like that and turn everyone off to the sport when the reality is REAL fighters dont act or train anything like that

HIIT training five days a week? Gotta be careful if you're not used to high volumes of exercise, especially considering you'll basically be working out later in the day, too.

your site looks good, good luck!

TheClips - HIIT training five days a week? Gotta be careful if you're not used to high volumes of exercise, especially considering you'll basically be working out later in the day, too.

Yeah I was considering changing that to just 3 times a week.  I've been doing some test runs with HIIT training in the morning and it is a rough work out.

No youre right when you say this. I think the way I am going to make sure the production company is editing it is to focus a lot on training and the struggles you go through trying to change your lifestyle.

Slight adjustment of the theme to Caged Heat and you're all set.
