Cain still #1 in the hvw division

I guarantee if he fights jds again I'd be a different turnout, an big foot is gonna get that oversized jaw cracked in half to the point where he might look normal Phone Post

Dong Johnson -  Are you Mexican?
Im Mexican and hes going to get the belt. Say good bye to you $500. Phone Post

No, he's not. Cain is about Frank Mir level. J2S is the obvious number 1 HW at this time

No he's not. Phone Post

He's up there but still no. his hype was exposed when he got caught. He was being billed as someone whose kickboxing was lethal and technical to the point of perfection, and, well... that looked to be exactly what JDS did to him, destroy him with lethal, technically sound bombs. Phone Post

Jds last 5 > Cain's last 5 Phone Post

Come on look at his fights he dominated everybody he has fought an got caught with a lucky punch that could happen to ANY hvw including jds! If the fight would have lasted into the later rounds I'm sure cains superior wrestling an ground in pound would have taken a toll on cigano just wait an see when they fight again if he could even get past mirr which I see him doing but again u never know when yor gonna get cought specially being so big, an no I am Mexican I just recognize true talent an heart Phone Post

Was thinking the same thing.

I think a few more fights and DC could wipe the floor with most ofte HW roster but I think Cain is still No1 he just got clipped.

Was such a bad night hated seeing jds win that fight so easy, everyone wrote Cain off but this will be a good fight for him to show everyone he's back! Phone Post
I love when people minimize the skill and talent some fighters have.

He was KO'd from a perfectly time punch, by a very good boxer.

I like Cain quite a bit, but when you stack up their resumes side by side, it's very difficult to make a case for Cain to be ranked ahead of JDS.

Cain's biggest wins:
Brock Lesnar
Minotauro Nogueira
Cheick Kongo
Ben Rothwell

After that we're getting into guys like Denis Stojnic and Jake O'Brien.

Compare that to JDS's biggest wins:

Cain Velasquez(that's probably enough to end the discussion)
Shane Carwin
Fabricio Werdum
Roy Nelson
Gabriel Gonzaga
Mirko Cro Cop
Stefan Struve
Gilbert Ivel

Honestly, they're not even comparable. I would say even without the head to head victory, you'd still have to give the edge JDS.

I agree after last night.

And after re-watching some of his older fights, I completely retract my statement. He IS more technical in every area than JDS. I certainly hope he's studying that first fight, last night's fight against Mir, and several of the other JDS bouts. I hope Cain takes him down and keeps him there.

After last night I'm almost convinced JDS's ground game is a farce. Why would a BJJ blackbelt, oozing confidence, bragging pre-fight about how he's better than Mir in all areas, INCLUDING JIU-JITSU, and would not spend HALF a second on the ground with him, even when Mir was laying there, eyes glazed over, basically already finished, he decided to spring to his feet immediately and bring down the deathblow from there. It's very red-flag raising IMO. Yes, he had no NEED to mount Mir and finish him, but he avoided even kneeling down like it was the fucking plague. Kinda pissed me off.

Amazing on the ground JDS? There was your chance to prove it infront of the world and shut the collective mouths of the skeptics, but you did exactly what the skeptics predicted you would and shot up like a rocket to your feet, if so much as a kneecap touched the canvas.

We've heard enough talk about how you "choose" to not fight on the ground. We've heard enough of how you can finish your opponent from anywhere. At least prove it before someone like Cain exposes it as an indisputable farce.

Didn't appreciate that last blow either. Very un-sportsmanlike. I know a lot of you will disagree, but to fight that way just because you're butthurt that your opponent beat your life partner, fair and square, TWICE, is kinda disrespectful, and a bit immature. I actually liked JDS before last night a LOT more than I do now, and not because he won the fight that I hoped Mir would win. But rather, because of how he COULD have fought, and how he could have surprised us all by beating Mir within an inch of knocking him out cold, then jumping on top of him and slapping on an omaplata or a D'Arce.

Hope Cain lights him up, wrestlefucks him, and puts him to sleep in the next fight. Phone Post

 crack don't smoke itself homie

Haha. I could give a shit less honestly. It was somewhere between 4 and 10AM, and I had gotten no sleep, so if it came off as butthurt or angry rambling, meh. Guilty as charged.

His ground game is a farce until proven otherwise. That's my point. JDS played his game- and that's getting boring to me, like pro-boxing. Theres other aspects to MMA than just KOing your opponent without leaving your feet, and if you're so well-rounded, why so scared to show it?

After rewatching the fight I feel the same way. We all knew JDS could, and would do that. We hoped we'd finally get to see him utilize his blackbelt jiu-jitsu skills, but that didn't happen and probably never will.

He's also not the "nice guy" everyone wishes he was. Watch closely and if you don't pick up on the fact that it's all a work, this whole "smiley nice guy JDS," then I don't know what to tell you. He's the latest victim of the UFC PR Team.

I'll have the last laugh when he gets popped for PEDs one day and the JDS fanboys collectively spit his nuts out of their mouths like sour grapes and bash him relentlessly. I can see all the quotes from JDS after the Overeem debacle saying "I'd never cheat" "I'd never take anything to enhance my performance" "I'm an all natural athlete and everyone else should be too or else I'm at a disadvantage in my fights" being revived and then destroyed. Remember Overeem saying all the same bullshit? They were giving him the "nice smiley deadliest fighter" persona too before he embarassed himself and single-handedly rearranged the entire card from Saturday. When he comes back, they'll market him the same way. You'll see.

I don't dislike JDS, I just wanna see this "well-rounded BJJ Blackbelt" we've all heard the hype about, that is all. Not butthurt in the least. Wasn't in the best of moods when writing that post, also very sleep-deprived due to work and family obligations. Like I said, guilty as charged for making a silly rant and rambling. Sorry bout that. But butthurt? No. I just wanna see some results. I want to see the fruits of all the hard work it must've taken to achieve being awarded a blackbelt under the Nog brothers on full display in the Octagon. I know he can knock dudes out left and right already.

Don't give me this cleancut, flaw-free, smiley, baby-kissing UFC champion posterboy schpiel. I don't care what kind of person he is. I wanna see some BJJ out of him, and I will troll for it till I see it. Lol.

Note: I'm not serious about any of this. Like I said, I could care less. I could also care less about what he did, just trying to state that if he would have slammed Frank Mir and brutally subbed him, it would shut a lot of people up and answer all the questions about his ground game. Just wish the UFC PR Team would stop with the "nice guy" acts they make some of these men put on and just let them be who they are: brute athletes, who talk shit and fight eachother in tiny gloves for money. It's that simple.

I was tired, cranky, and bored when I posted that. Reading it over I regret posting it. Insomnia's a bitch. Helps me sleep to write. That's why you'll see a lot of (often long) posts in the wee-hours of the morning from me. I'm usually on point but I'm bound to say something dumb from time to time at this hour. I apologize. I was actually falling asleep while I was writing that post. Phone Post

as far as records, i think JDS is still clearly ahead of Cain until Cain can defeat JDS, but i dont think thats going to happen.
