Cain to JDS: You gotta get through me 1st

Man stop with all these rematches. Ufc really needs some sort of ranking system to sort things out. Also can they sign Sergei Kharitonov already. Wonder if Sergei could make 205 cause him vs Jones is a fight I would very much like to see.

CAIN - Gotta get thjrough me first

JDS - Been there done that..didnt break a sweat

stonepony - Overoids has no chance against JDS, no matter how much he cheats. Cain got caught, after a long layoff, it's not representative of how the two would normally match up. JDS might run through everybody and hold the belt until JJ grows up, but, Cain has a much better chance than Overoids.

Who has Overoids beaten with his striking in MMA? Lesnar the rookie? Rogers the tire salesmen? Rogers who can't beat anybody... Overoids couldn't strike with Werdum, he had to pin him down with his roid weight.

Wow, how is this guy not banned yet?

He's been showing up without fail in any thread even remotely relating to Overeem with the same bullshit for so long now but somehow flys under the radar.

I've never seen anyone with such a passionate hatred for someone they've never met or had anything to do with.

Would you really be so disrespectful to Alistair face to face? You certainly don't have to like the guy or support him but at least show a little respect man. Phone Post

I guess I haven't been banned because he's a known cheater who got caught cheating. You don't have to like the guy or support him, but at least acknowledge reality man. Everybody already knew he was a cheater and that his "lineal champion" title was a fraud. Everybody knew it, including you, and he got busted on the first random test he couldn't flee the country to avoid. I don't respect the cheater, and I don't have to respect the cheater. I respect JDS. A worthy legitimate champion.

Overoids hasn't done anything to earn a title shot anyway. And you can't make the argument that he has. He couldn't strike with anybody in Strike Force. Who has he beat in MMA with his striking? I'm asking again since you couldn't answer it last time.

Grandpa Fujita? Todd Duffee the rookie? Lesnar the rookie? Rogers the nobody? Every significant fighter he tried to strike with has knocked him out, except for Mirko who he got DQ'd against for kneeing him in the balls over and over. He beat Buentello and Werdum by flopping his roid weight on them until they were too exhausted to fight back.

Reality is not "fighter bashing", it's reality.

At this point in time, I think JDS vs Cain II is a completely uninteresting fight. Overeem and Cormier are far more compelling matches for JDS, but I understand that the timing doesn't seem to be right. Still, I think just about anything would be better than a rematch with Cain.

Don't let this turn into a GSP-Diaz saga, make the fight Overeem Vs JDS.

It seems like most people want to see the fight between two heavyweight stand up monsters... Cain should have to win one more against a top 5 opponent to get his title shot...

Cain was the first guy to legitimately KO Nogueira... And he did it in devastating fashion. What are Overoid's MMA highlights? Seriously. I keep asking this, but, nobody wants to explain it to me.

He roid-muscled Lesnar against the cage and kneed him in the diverticulitis. That's it? That's what makes him an epic striker? He packed on 75lbs of roid muscle and stopped a striking novice who just crawled out of his death bed after a year off? That's why Overoids deserves a title shot?

Please, if I'm missing something somewhere, let me know.

He already did, ese.

This is apparently an impossible question to answer.

Overeem handled Lesnar more easily than Cain did.

Reality is not something you should be talking about man, you clearly have no grasp on it whatsoever.

Overeem beat Werdum by flopping his roid weight on him? P4P most ridiculous comment I think I have ever read, you have zero credibility.

Werdum is a legit top 5 HW right now and Alistair has recent wins over both Werdum and Brock (ex champ, top 5 rank at the time and also Cain's biggest win).

Cain already has a recent RD1 KO loss to JDS, his biggest win is Brock (same as Alistair) and he has recently beaten Bigfoot (who lost to Werdum). That means on paper right now Alistair is the legit #1 contender and for Cain to be the true #1 contender he really needs to beat either Werdum or Alistair. Its all pretty simple really.

When you add the fact that JDS recently destroyed Cain and is yet to fight another elite striker while Alistair is the reigning K1 WGP champ along with having KO wins over guys like Badr Hari along with more MMA submission wins than JDS or Cain even have fights its pretty clear to see why a lot of people (myself included) would like to see Overeem vs JDS before Cain vs JDS 2.

So to bring this shitstorm back to the topic at hand ideally they should have Cain vs Werdum to decide who gets the shot but considering the timing of everything it just makes sense to have Cain rematch while Overeem is out rather than having JDS sit on the shelf.

I just dont think Cain is in a position to be saying "You have to get through me first" when JDS already stomped him recently.

No one "earns" a title shot, this ain't no ranking system.

Fighters are "classified" by the competition they beat, their past performances, and yes, their popularity and how their fight would potentially sell..

Cain got blasted by JDS while Overeem is a fucking K-1 and Dream/SF champ, while also dominating Brock.

Overeem is damn suspicious but technically he hasn't been caught roiding, just a fucked up test ratio.

JDS/Reem will sell more than JDS/Cain and casuals will not want to watch JDS/Cain 2 for now which will lower potential revenue. Reem was also the previous #1 contender anyway.

At the end of the day DFW puts on fights that will yield the most money while preserving the sport's integrity. The exception to this is Brock of course but we all know how much money the UFC made off him. The UFC's silence on the issue is telling; they really want to make Reem/JDS but are gauging whether they can make the yearend show.

If you keep on bitching, maybe DFW will listen to you though. Good luck, buddy! Phone Post

JDS destroyed Werdum who fled to Strikeforce where the competition was easier. And Werdum had no trouble striking with Overoids. Overoids won by pinning him down, with his roid weight, until he gassed. That's reality.

Lesnar coming out of his death-bed, is your only argument. K-1, means nothing. I asked who he has out-struck in MMA. And your answer is Lesnar, the most one-dimensional champion since Royce Gracie.

Cain smashed Nog. Which is more than Overoids has done, striking, in his entire MMA career. Who, in MMA, did Overoids beat with his "elite striking"? If he's such an amazing striker, that should be an extremely simple question to answer. Shouldn't it? He couldn't strike with Werdum, and he couldn't strike with Buentello. He has only out-struck rookies. And Fujita. Everybody else knocked him out.

I almost stopped reading at your embarrassing attempt to claim Overcheats isn't the biggest juicer in MMA history. You know he is. Everybody knows he is. He got busted. Time to move on...

Who has Overoids out-struck in MMA? You say it's not about "earning" a title shot? That's fine. I disagree for the most part, but it's beside the point. The fact that you answer by saying "it's not about earning a title shot", suggests to me that you know perfectly well that he hasn't earned it.

Who has he out-struck in MMA? I don't care what he's done in K-1, or ping-pong tournaments, or highschool chess club. Who has he out-struck in MMA? Just curious...

JDS loves to keep the fight standing and has smashed -everybody- not just Werdum, he is also in fact the one and only person to ever stop Werdum. He's been great at stopping other guys implementing there plans and forcing them to stand and bang . However he is yet to fight another guy renowned for striking who actually wants to stand and bang with him.

Alistair is that guy. He has proven he can beat guys like Badr Hari and Peter Aerts in straight kickboxing matches and now he has beaten a couple of top 5 UFC HW guys in order to earn #1 contender status. That makes him the most interesting matchup available for JDS right now. Is that really that hard for you to comprehend?

We have not seen Alistairs striking shine in MMA as his last few fights have been against ground specialists who both wanted to drag him down. He had to adopt a low stance and constantly be prepared for takedowns, he did what he had to in order to get the W. We'll get a much better idea of where his MMA striking stands after a fight with JDS.

JDS vs Overeem right now is no doubt the biggest and most exciting HW fight that can be made. Two elite heavyweight strikers who both really want to throw down with each other. If Alistair passes the drug tests and is licensed to compete and you dont want to see that fight then theres something seriously wrong with you man.

I will certainly watch the fight buddy... I'm eager to see Overoids be humiliated by a truly superior striker.

Overoids has been in MMA for a long time. And, your answer is that he just hasn't had a chance to demonstrate his alleged super-striking?... When fighters were knocking him out left and right, that was only because Overoids was worried about their wrestling?

Every time he has faced a decent striker in MMA, he has either been knocked out, or he has submitted them. He beat the HW champ with the worst striking game in MMA history. He got out-struck by Werdum.

How many MMA fights has he had? 50? And all you can argue is that he just hasn't had a chance to show how good his striking is?

I rest my case. His MMA striking is mediocre. Without the roid weight, he wouldn't ever have taken a belt, and he wouldn't even be in the UFC today.

I rest my case. His MMA striking is mediocre. Without the roid weight, he wouldn't ever have taken a belt, and he wouldn't even be in the UFC today.
He's always had great striking. He has had 48 MMA fights now and I dont recall him ever losing the striking exchanges in the first few minutes of any of those fights against any of the killers he fought at LHW. Seriously, go watch any of those fights including all the HL reel losses and you'll see him come out and get the best of almost everybody for the first few minutes.

His real undoing was that he would cut a lot of weight and then come out berserker style throwing everything but the kitchen sink only to do great for the first few minutes then gas out horribly and get stopped especially with Prides 10min first round.

Shogun got beat on the feet and took him down to get the KO. He had a prime Chuck Liddell shooting a takedown and losing the exchanges till gassing and getting KO'd. He was getting the best of a prime Nog till the later rounds. He is still the only guy to ever sub Belfort.

He has always been a legit striker. Weight cutting, Cardio and 10 min Pride first round where his major issues.

Since stacking on the weight and heading to HW he has really redefined his style, he's a far more patient striker holding back looking for counter opportunities instead of rushing in like a berserker. He's put together a brutal HL reel smashing guys at HW for the past few years with the exception of the Werdum fight (which I believe was due to Werdum rushing & flopping) albeit it against less than stellar competition which as im sure you'll point out proves nothing.

He has however shown he is capable of beating great kickboxers in straight kickboxing matches recently but we are yet to see just how well he stacks up against an elite MMA striker.

Thats why a lot of people are so excited for this fight with JDS. Its the first time we get to really see HW Overeem fight a legit top MMA striker who actually wants to stand and trade with him!!
