with all the half-guard threads going on, here's another...
my secret evil move against bigger guys from the half-guard.
i came up with this after watching clips from Eddie Bravo's Twister and
the move he pulled off in competition called the "Kamakazi leg lock".
I'm not able to do it his way with just the legs so instead...
from the "lockdown" (on their right leg) get underneath and go for the
oldschool sweep. if you get the sweep, great. if they base their left leg
out and you can't reach the foot, curl your body underneath almost like
you're going to go underneath them. use your right leg to bend the
lower portion of their trapped right leg toward their butt, enough so
that you can reach their toes with your right hand. for added pressure,
you can also grab their right shin with your left hand (which is around/
hugging their right thigh). Slowly! Pull their toes toward you and
extend your shin bone into their calf muscle. This move hurts like hell
and is a mix of a calf-crush and a toe-hold. Work this in combination
with the other half-guard sweeps from the lockdown and it's another
weapon to have.
now i'm not sure if this has a name already or if this variation is shown
by Eddie on his DVD, if so i'd like to know. (Maybe it's a Sambo move?)
otherwise i suggest it be called the "Camel-Toe-Hold", or the
"Bravoplata". whichever you prefer.
hope it helps. be careful.
