Can GSP beat Kos?

"His Wrestling is decent, he did take Frank Trigg Down. Trigg at the time was probably in the top ten ranking of freestyle wrestlers in the United States at the time. Can he take koscheck down? I don't know. But IF he does, and it is a big IF, Kos will be in deep water. "

He also completely dominated former top ranked NCAA stand out Otto Olsen at ADCC years ago. His wrestling is better than decent and has only improved since then.

and we all seen how hard a time Kos had controlling Diego once he got him down. GSP will be tougher to control. On the feet GSP also uses much more movement than Diego, and is much tougher to line up for a clean shot.

"Surely GSP is as good if not better then diego on the ground"

LOLZ

laugh all you want but Karo beat Diego's ass on the ground for two rounds, something he did not come close to doing to St Pierre. St Pierre may fall behind Diego in submission, but as far as being able to be put on his back and control, St Pierre is every bit as good or better than Diego in offering up resistence to that approach.

GSP wins most his fights by dominating on the ground. He has only looked good standing against Hughes and Heiron who have no standup. He wont dominate Josh on the ground, and Josh is too good standing. Josh will probably win by sprawl and brawl. He could win the exact same way he did against diego, but I dont think gsp's jaw will hold up to those right hands.

Actually GSP beat Sherk by first tooling him on the feet then the ground, rocked Trigg with a left hook, that had Trigg bailing on the feet and initiating the takedown that seen him end up on his back. he beat Miller all around the octagon, standing and on the ground. no trouble with Karo on the feet, and never shutdown for a second fighting half blinded against Penn. Lol at Kos having too good stand up. we are talking about Josh Koscheck, aren't we.

"Surely GSP is as good if not better then diego on the ground."

Nope.

yes, Diego is light years head of St Pierre on the ground, like Miller was.

Wow ... so many GSP nay sayers.

GSP would beat Kos or Diego in an exciting, decisive manner.  If anything, GSP's last loss just made him more hungry just like when he lost to Hughes in their first fight.

Kos CAN NOT beat GSP. That is a guarantee and a promise!

Its funny how you americans think there isnt any good wrestling outside your home land.

Lets see now:

GSP has put top wrestlers like Trigg, Sherk and Otto Olsen(in ADCC) on their backs, was able to defend the takedown from Hughes when he had double underhooks and yet Josh is gonna throw him around like a rag doll? Right.

Proof that crack doesnt smoke itself.

We just had a tournament in Canada where in the one weight class we had the former Olympic champion Kendall Cross, former world champion Gia Sissauri(sp) and Iranian national champ. The winner was Gia and he trains out of GSP's camp. They have some very tough wrestlers there. Also if you know anything about wrestleing then you know that Kendall Cross is deadly.

I believe GSP will win but Kos is at this moment very deadly in what he does.As boreing as it is it's still very effective.

This is a bad matchup for GSP.

It's funny how some people think that going undefeated an entire year to go on to become a D-1 Wrestling champion isn't an accomplishment that carries worldwide clout.

If Kos headed to the olympics instead of to MMA, going into his first Olympics, he would most likely be the favorite to take his weightclass, IMO.

In wrestling, nothing much tops what Kos did EXCEPT an olympic medal...He's probably a more talented wrestler than 95% of the guys trying to make it to the olympics as we speak.

> "He trains with plenty of wrestlers who would wreck Kos".

LOL.

"Gia Sissauri" That guy is world class. His wrestling has to be as good as Koscheks.

better actually.

I am not denying the fact that Canada does have good wrestlers, they do! However at that same tournament Brent Metcalf (A kid who will be starting his first year of NCAA compition) beat Evan Macdonald.

u know as good of a wrestler as josh k. is, i heard from a lil inside source that is definatly credible 100%, that jon fitch throws josh k. around on a regular basis, from wut i hear its pretty bad 2. they told me its not much of a match, jon fitch just has that good of takedowns, and is really strong to throw kosch. around like wut ive been told, and this is recently 2.

Kos may be a better wrestler than Hughes, but it's not by much. Kos was a national champ, and finished 3rd as a Sr. Hughes finished 5th as a Sr (with Joe Williams in his weight class).

The difference is their styles. Kos likes to shoot from distance. Hughes likes to close distance, work to the body lock, and take down from there. Hughes' style is a better matchup for GSP, assuming he can close the distance. Kos will be in perfect striking range the whole fight, which will get him tooled on the feet. He also holds his chin out like a pinata, much like Heiron did. And Kos really doesn't like to trade, get hit, or stand in the pocket (Diego was absolutely right on that).

So Kos is stuck with trying to shoot doubles from distance against someone as good at wrestling as GSP. That's not going to happen. Meanwhile, he'll constantly be in striking range, with his chin hanging out and a dislike of getting hit.

IF Kos did get GSP down, he couldn't hold him down, and GSP would stand up without taking any damage, much like Diego did.

Terrbile matchup for Kos.

GSP is gonna beat the crap out of Koscheck. Kos will look like a 5 year old girl trying to fight Fedor. (Although he already looks like a 5 year old girl IMO.)
