A gas receipt that was misplaced? Isn't the online records sufficient enough for tax purposes? How is it right that they get a full tank of gas in their work van and then deduct that amount from the employee essentially resulting in free gas for them at the employees expense. Seems like a shitty thing to do....

Who lost the receipt? Our policy is no receipt, no reimbursement.
Did you use a company card and then they deducted from your paycheck?
If this is a local gas station just go down and ask them to write you a receipt. Or call your credit card company and ask if they can send you one.
If I'm reading it right, he used a company card, but since he doesn't have the receipt they are going to take that charge out of his paycheck.
It's not a reimbursement issue. I'm a w2 employee with a gas card to fill up the work van. I personally haven't lost a receipt but other guys have. Shouldn't I be entitled to all that gas that I essentially just paid for?

Siphon the gas back out; everybody's happy, right?
BarkLikeADog - Siphon the gas back out; everybody's happy, right?I would

I hope you enjoyed that tank of gas
Barbasol - I hope you enjoyed that tank of gasI didn't do anything lol. I'm not even missing any receipts. It's just a threat they make and I'm wondering if they're allowed to do it. Seems shitty considering they under pay their guys as it is and then threaten to take money from them but yet they still get to keep their tank of gas.

Your boss should go to bat in that situation.
Flaboy239 -You agreed to their terms of employment. It's pretty common actually. I have had to write checks when filling out my expense report because I lost the receipt or over spent on the meal.Barbasol - I hope you enjoyed that tank of gasI didn't do anything lol. Paul Hopkins - If you filled company vehicle with company card they can't make payroll deduction. You wouldn't think so.

This has been a well documented regulation.
My vote is if they do take money for the tank, fill it up again--making sure to get a receipt this time--and siphon the tank dry. You'd keep that gas for your needs and then fill up the tank again, making sure to file another reimbursement.
Pretty sure that is common, it's not your company so you don't get to make the rules. Would you want to reimburse someone without a receipt without knowing if that has was put in their own personal vehicle? The end of the day it's a simple operation to follow. Keep your receipts if you don't your sol.
You don't need a printed reciept for anything under $75 (I think that's the amount) if it can be accessed electronically.
