Can Strikeforce really pull this off? I think not

Strikeforce could barely set up a logical Heavyweight match. How will they pull off a tournament?

The facts:

(1) M-1 is avoiding the Reem tries to renegotiate Fedor's contract every few months
(3) Barnett may not be cleared by the commision
(4) Werdum offers Fedor a rematch rather than fighting Overeem for the so called championship
(5) Overeem is back and forth to Japan as he pleases.

So all of this unpredictability, how will Strikeforce successfuly pull off a tournament format which obligates the winners to fight a pre-designated opponent in their bracket rather than to pick and choose?

This "tournament" will end up being another Strikeforce circus.

I like going to the circus.

What happened to (2)? Phone Post

awesome

(2) fedors management last minute demands rebranding as m1 global for the entire tournament or fedor pulls out

Overeem needs to fight both Fedor and Werdum this year or it will forever be known as strikefarce

This will be complete chaos.

actually i dont think overeem likes to fight in the states.

I sure hope like hell they can pull it off with the winner fighting Reem but I don't think it'll actually happen

Whoops. I combined the 1st two reasons into # 1.

"Look, there's two women fucking a polar bear!"

With Fedor in the mix I don't see how they pull it off without some drama. Its almost a certainty that he will stall at some point to renegotiate his contract or get some concession from Strikeforce/Showtime. The fans are going to either be very disappointed or at least be dragged through mud before its done. I hope to be wrong though.

Besides all that, I can't believe the some of the fighters in the tournament. Brett Rogers whos 1-2 in his last three fights which include losses to Fedor and Overeem.

Whats worse is Arlovski who is 0-3 in his last three fights with losses to Fedor, Rogers and Silva. He'a already recently loss to almost half the fighters in the tournament.

great idea, regardless if they can pull it offm there will be plenty of buzz around the event

Honestly, I think they will "pull this off". Why couldn't they? The only real snag is dealing with M-1, which it seems they've been able to do. Yes M-1 has been frustrating as hell to everyone, but if that is everyone's only complaint, that's kinda lame.

As for the fighters announced thus far, Rogers has lost his last 2 yes, but they were to FEDOR and OVEREEM, so give a guy a break. AA has a chance to redeem himself, and Silva and Fedor are solid. IMO, anyone who isn't excited about a HW tourney on a major MMA promotion is lame. I bet they pull this thing off, and do it well.
