The 2011 is usually a tuned 1911 with a double-stack mag. You’ll notice higher capacity, lighter triggers, higher quality barrels, and usually a combination of optics, flared magwells and such. It’s a 1911 “brought into the 20th a century,” hence the name.
I found the 2011 a big step up on 1911, they (obviously shoot well)
Spent an afternoon shooting STI 2011, awesome gun.
Took a with a brand new WC 1911, had 5 malfunctions.
Ed Brown and Colt are not high end.
I agree that Colt is mid tier, but you’re crazy about Ed Brown.
Between Colt and top tier is Dan Wesson.
Bill Wilson will tell you take his pistols new out of the box, do not disassemble, clean, or lube them, and fire 500 rounds through it to "run it in." Then clean and lube for the first time.

Whatever you want to call them Ed Brown 1911s are nice.
