sacredhate - in that video up there, tehy make the gun sounds awesome..but it ends with "it's not even our top choice of sniper rifle, not even close".
ARRGGHHHH...where's the video for the top pick?????
Canadians' have a huge hard-on for McMillan .338's don't they?
Nope, not at all.
The Cdn forces .338 is the Canadian made PGW Timberwolf.
the McMillan, and the gun used for this shot, was the Tac-50 setup in a Cadex Dual Strike chassis.
Cdn snipers mostly use S&B PMII (5-25) scopes but JTF2 obviously has more flexibility with equipment.. I've seen pics of them with Nightforce optics.
I regularly shoot out to a mile +.. this was a hell of a shot.
Just read briefly about the optic you mentioned. Holy shitballs even at x25 times magnification what does a man sized target look like at that distance?
rushinbear - 10 seconds doesn't seem like too long of a time.
That's an eternity
I think I mistyped my thought. I was surprised that it took that long to get to the target. I would have thought a lot sooner. What is the initial velocity of that fired round?

Likely something over 3000fps, I have no idea what weight of bullet they fired though.
I also don't know how fast it's moving after 3400+ meters. Likely low-mid range handgun velocities but still dealing with a muh heavier projectile. I'd be interested in seeing the ballistics on it but the furthest range on any .50bmg ballistics chart I can find is 2000yds
The guy who owns 3rd place is Rob Furlong from Newfoundland. Knew him back in the day. He moved away and years later I see him on the cover of Maclean's magazine, this was when he held the world record. It was surreal.
