12 -It sounds like a good idea. There are so many "for the cure" running events right now, that a BJJ seminar or tournament would probably generate a good turn out. I'd be careful about picking WHICH charity the money goes to because many charities are close to a scam, with the majority of funds collected going to the cost of running the charity itself.
There are some sites that rate charities like Charity Navigator, CharityWatch.org, etc.
I think it's a great idea. And 12, huge props to and Shen for organizing this for Gary. Really an amazing job!

I always pictured selling a Tshirt or rash guard woh sponsors on it. Anyone that buys the shirt has entrance to any participating gym. No politics no bs just training for a good cause.
The event was awesome and I think it's a good idea. I would just caution that they shouldn't be done too often.
