He's like the current day Oscar. He's not as good a fighter but just in terms of excitement and drawing power.
That knockout was ruthless. Jerry Jones and Gennady Golovkin are at the fight and Jones has cleared a date for September 17th. Hopefully it happens. I think Golovkin paints Canelo's face the same color as his hair.
He's a vicious striker, wouldn't want to be in there for 12 rounds with him.
I think GGG is the leading man. Canelo does have a huge fan base though.
Ambitionz Az A Ridah - He's a vicious striker, wouldn't want to be in there for 12 rounds with him. He's one of the best and one of my current favorites. The Golovkin fight needs to happen. It would be a huge event and a great fight.

Canelo is not the leading man - GGG is ....
Canelo has been protecting himself like Mayweather did; as soon as he fights a full sized MW he's toast.
JewLuPlus - I think GGG is the leading man. Canelo does have a huge fan base though.Golovkin is the better fighter but in terms of drawing power Canelo pulls way bigger numbers. Alvarez is already a crossover star. Golovkin is getting there with the apple commercial and Jordan shoe deal. Right now I look at him as a cult fighter and an attraction fighter.

judomf - Canelo is not the leading man - GGG is ....Canelo has a way better resume. Golovkin is my favorite but his resume as a pro isn't that great. Honestly Khan would be Golovkin's best win.
Canelo has been protecting himself like Mayweather did; as soon as he fights a full sized MW he's toast.
Canelo has Cotto,Lara,Trout,Perro,Khan,Kirkland, etc that's a really strong resume for a 25 year old.

Hes not even as exciting as Oscar was but hes a star. Those PPV numbers for the Golovkin fight if it happens will be massive
GGG's last ppv against Lemieux only did 150,000. I'd agree with OP in that Canelo is boxing leading man because his ppv numbers are big regardless of who he's fighting
FFS69 - Hes not even as exciting as Oscar was but hes a star. Those PPV numbers for the Golovkin fight if it happens will be massiveThat's just like your opinion man

mackass - GGG's last ppv against Lemieux only did 150,000. I'd agree with OP in that Canelo is boxing leading man because his ppv numbers are big regardless of who he's fightingYes. Canelo is boxing biggest star currently. Now that doesn't mean he's the best fighter.

DanChow - Brutal Canelo KOs Khan, GGG next?Hopefully. It's either that or Canelo is stripped of his WBC world title

If Canelo-GGG doesn't happen I'd be interested in Lemieux-Canelo
