Sometimes they have fighters I really want to listen but I cant stand that show!
They sound like a couple of stoned high school dorks.. Those dumb jokes they deliver with their "Oh I am so funny funny" voices, and their sooooo laid back attitudes.. Ayks!
I wanted to listen to GSP on the show but I couldn't stand it more than 6 minutes.. What a waste. Not in the same league with Beatdown at all!
It's Sherwood mostly. He always sounds like he doesn't want to be there. I remember one show where Sherwood wasn't there so Savage had to do the show with TJ and it was fine. They had good back and forth and the show went a lot smoother. TJ (aside from the annoying commercials) is actually a good radio show host. Beatdown/SDS would be nowhere without him.
sherwood sounds out of breath all the time, he breathes so heavy into the
mic and he is just doing a radio show, its reall annoying to listen to but
thats my only problem with the show
Bennett was definitely the best and is sorely missed. The fact that he was a professional sports broadcaster really shined through on his show.
The Savage Dog Show and Beatdown Radio are both growing on me. I've always liked Sherwood and enjoyed when Bennett had him on as part of the "MMA Roundtable". Josh Gross is very knowledgable and radio is always better when someone is willing to through their opinions out there - whether you agree with them or not.
The tough thing right now seems to be filling the two hour shows with content. Hopefully as the shows continue to grow and evolve they will only get better.
Whoopass radio is apparently on the verge of coming back, it's done by Luke Thomas at Bloody Elbow http://www.bloodyelbow.com. I gotta agree that the Sherdog guys Gross and Sherwood both have this 'better than thou' / 'whatever' attitude about them. Fightlinker.com's got it's own podcast now, we did episode 0 last week and tommorow is the first 'real' show with bells and whistles. So maybe you guys wanna check that out. We'll try not to suck.
1 show ever was Soundoff w/ Ryan Bennett and Trigg.
I really miss Ryan Bennett. Hard to believe we've been without him for a year on the 31st.
2 show is the new Soundoff w/ Damon Martin and Jeff Cain
Good guys with huge shoes to fill and they've done a good job. They have good banter and are funnier to me than TJ/Josh.
3 show is Beatdown. I like the show, but sometimes I feel like with the new 2 hour format, that TJ seems to reiterate the same question over and over to their guest because he has more time to keep them on.
From a radio stand point, TJ is by far the best host. his show has better flow, timing, production, etc.
I think that if he started training again he would have a better perspective, opinion, and understanding of things.
It's hard to listen to two guys who don't train, diet, or compete talk to me about professional sports. You can only learn and know so much by watching.
Aside from that, the show has taken on WAAAY more of a AM-Sports talk radio format and has gotten away from the Fun that it was in the past. I liked when they did Bits, had more off topic talk, etc.
but I'm an Alt Rock kid... mainstream fans might like it better.
