If you had a high mileage commute, office 52 miles away, in New Jersey, what car would you get for commuting?

Jetta diesel.
chevy bolt
depends on where in NJ
running up the NW area (sussenx, Warren,Passaic, etc) i'd want something that can handle the hills and the snow so i'm prbably looking at an all wheel drive small suv or subarua wagon type vehicle
running south and towards the shore i'd want a smaller gas saver
running from the city south west towards trenton /camden i'd want to find something bullet proof
bmw i3, although 52 miles one way might be pushing it.

Thats the same distance of my commute . I bought a used 2004 mini Cooper s to fuck around in and work on . Wouldn't recommend it unless you like to work on an obscure car. A few people I work with bought electric cars like the Fiat . If your going to use a car just to commute I would probably say get a used Toyota Corolla
If it werent for our winters, 100 percent it would be a toyota prius
I averaged 49 mpg over 36k mile lease
Thing was terrible in the snow, however
Not familiar w many recent cars, but i think awd or 4wd option is necessary for this area

A prius would be awesome, but yeah, the snow and hills.
Crosscheck looks cool.
Would like to keep it under $30k
Rhymenoceros - Fuck that. I would move unless I only had to go into the office one day / week.
If it happens it would be temporary.
1939 International Harvester pickup.

Can you still not pump your own gas in Jersey?

Can you still not pump your own gas in Jersey?
Correct, no self pumping
And our prices arent as cheap anymore since they raised the gax tax or whatever
Still, i like the full serve pumps by us esp in winter
The ones in latino area usually dont give a shit if you pump yourself when attendants are busy/sleeping
The only people mad about having an attendent pump the gas are people not from NJ.
Thanks guys, you gave some great starting points.
