Shane Carwin: “Lesnar may be well known, but fame does not equal respect”
Shane Carwin must have thought all of his Christmas’s had come at once when he got the call to face current UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar for his title, and by all accounts he has more motivation to fight Lesnar than just silverware.
In a recent interview with SI.com, Carwin discloses his honest opinion of Lesnar.
“I think hate is a strong word, but yeah, I hate what he did after UFC 100. I hate that he disrespected the greatest sporting fans in the world and I can't wait to fight him. ... Really it comes down to respect and I do not think that he respects the sport or the fans of this sport. He may be well known, but fame does not equal respect.”
Shane Carwin will battle with Brock Lesnar for the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 106 on November 21st in Las Vegas, Nevada. If anyone has the size and power to challenge that of Lesnar, Shane Carwin is the person who possesses it.
I really think Brock is going to win this fight hands down. I'm not sure many people aware of how much better of a wrestler Brock is then Carwin. Not to take anything away from Shanes accomplishments, but there is a serious jump in competition between Carwin's D-2 National title and Brocks D-1 title.
A good friend of mine wrestles D-1 for Edinboro and he's not even ranked in the top 20 of D-1, but he's wrestled and beat guys in his weight class that were ranked 1, 2, 4, and 6 in D-2.
Shanes only chance is that he can outstrike Brock, which is debateable. From what we've seen, I'll concede that Shanes a more skilled puncher then Lesnar, but I still think Brock has the advantage in punching power. Neither guy has a really suspect chin as of yet.
The big thing for me in this fight is that Carwin was on his back against Gonzaga and was able to get back up relatively easily. If Brocks on top of him hes not getting up and is going to take a beating in the process.
lol I wish I knew where it came from, just saw it on some random gif thread, and first thing I thought of was Brock vs Carwin. Bigfoot looks to have some skill he knows to get right back up when the bears takes him down. He must of been drinking wine with xanax

What the hell makes you believe Lesnar has the advantage when it comes to punching power? Lesnar has never KO´d anyone standing. Carwin has done it multiple times. He possesses natural KO power that just cant be tought. Lesnar was getting worked by Mir standing until he got it to the ground.
Shane Carwin will destroy Lesnar if he can keep this fight on the feet. Its 5 rounds, I think he has a good chance of catching Lesnar.
Penis chest is going to retire Shane into mechanical engineering. Hopefully the gorilla hammer fists don't knock any of the knowledge Carwin learned in school outta his head.

Please point out to me the point in the Mir/Lesnar fight where "Lesnar was getting worked by Mir".
My challenge still stands. Brocks fighting career has lasted over 80 minutes if I remember correctly. Produce or describe 30 seconds out of that full 80 minutes where Brock is losing a fight.
Also, Brock literally bowled Heath Herring over with a right hand that broke Herrings orbital bone, and dropped Randy with a punch.
And remember, Herring has never been knocked out by a punch in his entire career and he's been in there with some of the best.
The only other guy to drop Randy was Chuck, one of the hardest punchers in the history of the sport.
"Mir rocked him in the second round just before Brock got it back to the ground (Mir made the mistake of clinching up with him and going for knees I think)"
Yes, Mir caught him with a knee right as Brock threw him to the ground for the eventual beating he would hand out. Far from Mir "working Brock over"
"When he was getting tapped out by Mir perhaps? But what has that got to do with my point"
The point is that nobody has ever "worked Brock over" standing. Even counting Mirs kneebar, which lasted roughly 8-10 seconds, you cant produce 20 more seconds of guys standing with Brock and beating him up on the feet.......20 measly seconds.
"Yeah he hit Herring with his hardest shot right on the button and it dropped him...but the fight went to a decison remember. Carwin puts guys completely out with one shot, big difference."
