Ceal Sanderson Coaching at Penn State?

I just heard that Cael left Iowa State and is the new coach at Penn State. Just wondering why he left the coaching job of where he went to college to go coach at Penn State?

GaymidaGaydan has just pinned the correct.

It was all about money ... and Jamie Pollard

wow this happend a long time ago. UFC veteran and olympic gold winner Kevin Jackson replaced him.

Better chance at winning a national title at Penn State.  Great wrestling-only facilities, fertile recruiting area for top talent (PA, NJ, NY, OH), the prestige of competing in the best wrestling conference in the country and a commitment from the boosters / administration to throw heavy financial support behind the program.

Although they've been up and down for a large part of the last decade (largely due to the former HC, Troy Sunderland), the Penn State wrestling job is still one of the better HC positions nationally.

Hawkeye02 - Not just money, he was doing just fine in Ames. Jamie Pollard, the Athletic Director of Iowa State is a dumbass. If I had lived in Ames for 10 years I'd be ready to leave too. Mark Perry on your staff isn't a bad bonus too. Its a lot easier to recruite someone to come to Penn State for school then it is come to Ames Iowa.

Perry's no longer at Penn State.  Cael brought both full-time assistants from ISU (his brother and Casey Cunningham).  Except for Perry, Penn State's other assistant's from the Sunderland regime were retained and coach the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club or handle operations.  Cael also brought in Teyon Ware as a freestyle coach for the NLWC.

 Because it's Penn State.

I thought that he might have some more loyalty to his school though. Most people dream of coaching for the school they played/competed in sports for (unless it was in a low level conference).

I guess he always would have been second to Iowa though
