Celebrities who aren't a$$holes that you've met

Rod Woodson (and a few other nfl guys):

Rod is from my city in Indiana, and holds a football camp for the kids here. To promote it, he gets the best seniors in the area for basketball and challenges them against nfl guys. I was lucky enough to get picked. Woodson can ball.

Anyways, after the game (we won), the nfl guys run into the stands to sign autographs and take pictures. The Ravens OL Sam Adams is picking kids up on his shoulder and taking photos, they're all signing everything, basically they stuck around for over an hour just hanging out with an entire crowd of fans.

Afterwards, the high school team comes out of the locker room after the game and the nfl guys are waiting. They gave us their jerseys, all autographed by everyone, took even more photos, talked basketball with us like we were buddies, and left.

Rod Woodson was like, the nicest guy in the world. Phone Post 3.0

Ken Griffey Sr

He's a batting coach for some single-A team, and he would always come into my work whenever his team was in town. He always remembered me and loved talking baseball with anyone who would bring it up. He told me the happiest moment of his life was looking down the bench and seeing his son there. Super nice man.  Phone Post 3.0

James Hong. He was at a Anime convention as the main guest that year. It turns out his room was across from ours at the hotel. He couldn't get his cardkey to work. We heard this and ran out into the hallway and he and our group talked for about 10 min. He did a bunch of Kung Fu tv shows way back when. Fun stories. Carradine was always a nut turns out.

Also Lando Mollari Peter Jurrasic. Met him at another convention and talked to him for 10 min also. Great guy. Phone Post 3.0

I met Mark Hamill and Christopher Lambert at a dragoncon when I was 15. Both really cool guys.

Ziggy Marley

Travis Pastrana came to my work for a car show/meet and greet and was so nice it blew my mind. He wouldn't stop thanking us for having him and you could tell he genuinely loved talk g to his fans and signing their shit. Great guy. Phone Post 3.0

Only met one that I actually said more than two words to and that was Chris ODonnell (the kid that played Robin in the Batman films).

Back around the time those films had come out and he was really popular I had a funny encounter with him. (FRAT warning):

My girlfriend and I went to see the play Beauty and the Beast at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. We had front row seats near the middle and as the lights dimmed and the show started, a couple slipped into the seats right next to us, I didn't even really notice them. About a minute into the show my girlfriend starting grabbing my arm and freaking out whispering "oh my God, look who is next to me! Oh my God!" I glanced and saw that it was ODonnell.

When intermission came, a few folks got a glimpse of him and before you know it there were about 100 people pushing and shoving to get down to him to get a picture or autograph. It was actually kind of scary how full-retard people went over him. His poor girlfriend was being pushed all over the place and i actually pushed a few people back to keep her from being knocked to the floor. Finally the lights went down and intermission ended so people went back to their seats.

With about 3 minutes left in the play, Chris leaned over to me and said "Hey, think you can help me out?" I said sure, figuring he didn't want to get mobbed when the show ended. He said, "Can you get me out of here and my girlfriend can bring your girl out to our car?" So just as the lights came on I stood up into the row and semi-jogged straight out of the place with ODonnell tucked behind me with his face down. (I am about 6'7 and 275lbs).

He thanked me when we made it to his limo and asked me if we wanted to go to dinner with him and his girlfriend. We talked for awhile and had a drink in their limo, but we had other plans so we did not go. He took my contact information and contacted me about a week later to say thanks again for the help and if I ever needed anything to give him a call.

I never called or anything, I am not much on the celebrity worship thing, just wanted to help the guy out. He ended up marrying the girl he was with, I think she was school teacher from the DC area. Bottom line, Chris ODonnell is a pretty nice guy and VERY small! (no homo)

If those two came into physical contact, it would create a nerd singularity that would annihilate all of existence.

haha!

Odd you mention him. We went to the same high school and I sat in his chair in AP algebra. He had carved his name in the desk. Never met him though. Phone Post 3.0

Bryan Cranston. He came into my sister's tiny owner-operator car rental and then called me from her cell phone to say hi.

He actually offered me a job, but at that precise point in the conversation, it was unclear if he was in character or not.

I played it cool for the first few minutes, then did a little uncontrollable fanboying. It was a few months before the final few episodes of Breaking Bad aired. My friends also sold him his house in Albuquerque and said he was always funny and very kind. Phone Post 3.0

I poured coffee for Ted Williams when I was 13 and working as a busboy/dishwasher at a restaraunt in Wells, Maine. He was curmudgeonly but not an asshole at all. When I asked for his autograph he said "Kid, how the hell do you recognize me, you weren't even born?" I was like "But you're Ted Williams." Also, he used to be in Nissan Bread Commercials, so I brought up that, too.

I didn't meet Muhammad Ali in person, but talked to him on the phone. My grade six class had a project where we would write to famous people and ask them to let our class do a phone interview with them. Ali went out of his way to be as nice as a famous person can be. First he called me at the school. I got called to the office out of reading class to take a call from him. The first thing he said to me was "This is Muhammad Ali, the greatest heavyweight champion of all time." He set up the interview time with my teacher and we called him a couple days later. It was like six in the morning where he was living in California, but he got up early to do it before he had to catch a flight. Myself and three or four other kids got to take turns asking him questions. He gave us the full Ali treatment, clowning on us. He told me "I heard about you, you're that ugly fella." He asked another boy if he boxed and the kid said "I've done a little boxing" and Ali said "Yeah, what'd you box, oranges or bananas?" When one girl asked him who he thought was the greatest fighter of all time, he pretended to be asleep, fake snoring. When my teacher was wrapping up the call, he pretended he thought we were going to be sending him a check. He got up and did all of this first thing in the morning, just because he was a nice guy who liked interacting with kids.

Matt Millen is super cool guy, met him at an ice cream shop when I was 12, I was screwing around arm wrestling my mom, he walked over and arm wrestled me, showed me perfect form and technique, and told me about the nfl guys when they had skills competitions back in the day....said Dave klecko was best arm wrestler in the nfl.... Was a cool day for a 12 year old football fanatic.... Also met curt shilling who was quiet and some would say rude but he just pitched n lost so I understood, Jeter was really nice and signed 3 things for me (favorite modern player).... Paul Stanley from kiss was polite and seemed to be an AWESOME dad, it was at Disney years ago...I'll try think of few others Phone Post 3.0

Somebody in the other thread said Mike Tyson wasn't nice but I had a great experience with him. I went to UFC 98 in Vegas. This was just prior to the premiere of The Hangover, and a couple days before the death of his daughter. I was playing blackjack at the Hard Rock, and my buddy Nick grabs me by the shoulder and says "grab your chips, let's go". I thought one of the 5 of us there got kicked out or something. I stuffed the stack of chips in my pocket and Nick leads me to that small bar on the way to the Joint on the right, just before Pink Taco. Mike Tyson was sitting there with his wife. He was very cordial to all of us. Took pictures, shook hands, and all that. Very quiet and soft spoken. Not the kind of demeanor that you would expect from a guy that said he would eat your children. It was also surreal shaking his hand. That right hand of his made him hundreds of millions of dollars. Phone Post 3.0

Steven Martin.
Was working construction and the building they were shooting the movie had the same alley way as the building I was working in. I was welding in the alley he came out and was just shooting the shit about what I was doing. Just a normal guy. And surprisingly handsome in person. No homo Phone Post 3.0

Met The Govenator(Arnold) when I was coming out of Physical therapy, he was heading in to lift at gym near by, he asked what happened to my shoulder and then said good luck on the recovery.

Talked to Troy Aikmen a few times at the gym also. He's really fucking tall. Very nice.

Met Pat Morita in a bar in Baltimore a bunch of years ago. Our group (4) played pool with him for about 3 hours.

We tried to buy his drinks, he tried to buy our beer and in the end, the manager (friend) picked up our tab.

He asked if we wanted a picture or something. We said no, it was just cool to hang with him.

When we were leaving...the Alomar brother who spit on the ump was at the bottom of the escalator. Pat Morita said "hey...that guy is a big dick"
