Now that Cerrone is a dad, he sees the value in being a positive figure and wishes young fighters would strive for the same. 

“I wish these young kids coming into the game wouldn’t model themselves after (UFC welterweight) Colby (Covington),” Cerrone said. “Be something that people can follow you on Instagram—something kids want to dress up as for Halloween.”

thing is fighters dont have the money to copy mcgregor. so they copy colby, who is a poor mans connor.

I like there are a variety of characters in MMA. I much prefer classy guys like GSP & Fedor but a mix is nice. The current problem is that trash talk is a great promo tool and the UFC rewards it, not because they approve it but because it sells tickets. Because of that more and more fighters go down that route.

It’s the current media overload times we are in - and the need to pierce through the clutter - that cause that so I see no end in sight.

I don’t mind trash talk leading up to a fight between the two opponents. They get to settle this like men. But now it’s become a constant way of self-promotion, attacking anything and anyone all the time. It sucks.

True. Would be a very boring place if everyone was the same

This trash talk bs is so overblown and overrated. Shogun and Dan Henderson produced one of the greatest fights in MMA history and there was zero trash thrown between them. Trash talk is fine if there is LEGIT beef between the fighters, but this Dana White driven fake press conference disrupting, family insulting, place of birth degrading talk is just the worst. If Dana White didn't constantly encourage it, fake trash talk would not exist.
